As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

.....not exactly an evil surprise.....as the language and 'war speak' has been gently thrown at us over the past few weeks....and the rote learned polly speak has been playing at Fortissimo for the past few days.......
.........gotta have a Job Creation Programme for our youth though....all part and parcel of their Agenda IMO.
Frankly I am past horrified with this Govt.
ALL engineered.....disgusting.

It is interesting that there is a common denominator of activity, being the Hydraulic Fracturing of Hydrocarbons-FRACKING of shale gas specifically, in the war zones in the Ukraine, Iraq, Syria and Libya. Isn't it?
Interesting that Chevron paid $10 billion in 2013 for access to untold shale gas deposits and coal deposits in the East Ukraine....an area known as the Dneiper-Donets Basin....also interesting to know that the U.S. Vice Presidents son, called Hunter Biden, was appointed to the Board of Directors of a large corporation called Burisima....that coincidentally is involved in this same resource activity.
Interesting stuff, very 'interesting'.
Shale Gas is afterall the 'new' oil.
....maybe there is a war going on.....a corporate war where lots of 'greedies' are trying protect their resouces of what they reckon is theirs.
Blow everybody else hey?....literally

remember the useless economy wrecking, $100 leg of lamb carbon price that according to some didn't do anything anyway....
Emissions from energy generation jump most in eight years after carbon price axed
Carbon emissions from the country's main electricity grid have risen since the end of the carbon tax by the largest amount in nearly eight years.
Data from the National Electricity Market, which covers about 80 per cent of Australia's population, shows that emissions from the sector rose by about 1 million tonnes, or 0.8 per cent, at an annualised rate last month compared with June.

It's wearying to promote science in Australia – just ask the chief scientist
Science in Australia is caught in a pincer between the government’s hostility and its desire to cut spending. No wonder Ian Chubb is freelancing on the nation’s science strategy
It’s one of the quirks of the Abbott government’s full-frontal assault on the values of the Enlightenment that Ian Chubb, Australia’s chief scientist, has quietly emerged as one of the government’s most effective critics.
It’s not a situation Chubb might have expected when taking on the role, but the government’s disdain for such pesky notions as scientific evidence has thrust him into the spotlight. Now Chubb is effectively freelancing, making science policy for a government that has no science minister and no apparent interest in science itself.
Budget tables published by the Department of Industry yesterday revealed that funding cuts across science, research and innovation programs totalled nearly $400m this year alone, with more pain to come in the forward estimates.

Poor Me and the Circus notched up an interesting history with regard to science, between the knife act and the caucus clowns acts:
"she has also alienated a faction because of the government's declining support for manufacturing, science and research in the aftermath of the global financial crisis."
"In the six years of the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd Governments there were six ministers responsible for science, as Labor played pass the parcel with the science portfolio in line with its internal instability and turmoil."

"Interesting that Chevron paid $10 billion in 2013 for access to untold shale gas deposits and coal deposits in the East Ukraine"
"untold" ??:
"Ukraine has natural gas reserves of 1.1 trillion cubic meters and is ranked 26th among countries with proved reserves of natural gas. Its total gas reserves have been estimated at 5.4 trillion cubic meters"
It would be more interesting if the comments were actually correct, because neither Chevron , and also Shell, have paid the sum mentioned, they have in fact agreed to commence exploration with a view to allowing Ukraine to become energy independent from Russia who currently are their main energy supplier.
"The agreements with Shell and Chevron ... will enable us to have full sufficiency in gas by 2020 and, under an optimistic scenario, even enable us to export energy," said President Viktor Yanukovich."
"Earlier government figures set total investments, including extraction after exploratory drilling, at around $10bn."
Facts, the elixir that sustains knowledge.

what is the point of the $7.00 GP paymebnts to build a 1st class research centre in 20 years time, when they cut funding to science ad increase fees on science degrees making them more unobtainable to Australians
what do they have in mind
