As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Are ya proud Abbott?

abbott is probably proud that he has been implementing the wishes of the IPA, described today as the home of ageing young liberals and a hotbed of nepotism.
Take it from us in India: the world needs renewables, not more Australian exported coal
Carmichaelโs coal will be exported to India from Queensland. But Indiaโs clean energy industry is already booming โ we donโt need your coal
Here are little known facts about coal: its use is responsible for 400,000 premature deaths per year globally, and many more illnesses. In India, coal contributes to between 80,000 to 115,000 premature deaths and 20m new asthma cases annually. It is also responsible for around 40% of the greenhouse gas emissions that are dramatically changing the worldโs climate and impoverishing millions of people.
This, however, did not stop Tony Abbott from glossing over these costs when he declared recently that โcoal is good for humanityโ, nor did it stop environment minister Greg Hunt from saying that coal will lift millions in the developing world out of energy poverty.
But coal is not the solution to energy poverty. Local renewable energy is. Indiaโs people are best served by renewable energy sources like wind, solar and small-scale hydropower. Thatโs why Indian giant Adaniโs proposed Carmichael mine in Queenslandโs Galilee Basin, one of the worldโs largest, is such a backward idea โ and why I have joined the fightto stop it.

Abbott's PPL programme....is just a porkies breakfast.
Canberra Times:
Tony Abbottโs flawed and unpopular paid parental leave (PPL) scheme has hit another major roadblock, with โTreasury officials revealing limited progress is being made in determining how state public service schemes will dovetail with the proposed Commonwealth one, or how much it will eventually costโ.
.....maybe he is pushing on with it because he has 3 daughters....?
...............is it just a breeding programme?

Can you believe this am3?
โThe federal government is seeking to abolish mandatory reporting by telcos of the number of disclosures made to government agencies for Australiansโ personal phone, location and web data.โ
on โ23-10-2014 03:26 PM
If passed, it will mean telecommunications companies can keep secret the total number of disclosures of Australiansโ personal data, leaving only statistics compiled from government agencies which reveal less detail.
Did it pass? I hope not.

this is the article I mentioned yesterday about weapons falling into the wrong hands. it's a bit of a worry that
defence Force Chief Mark Binskin has confirmed weapons supplied by the US-led coalition may have fallen into the hands of Islamic State (IS) extremists.
