As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Interesting Greg Hunt interview on the 7.30 Report tonight, hope you're watching it 🙂
Excellent interview and Greg Hunt was the far better performer... Leigh Sales looked stupid with her harping on and on and on with one question for the better part of the interview...

think she will be joining the LNP soon - this latest outburst seems a little unstable, to put it politely.
Jacqui Lambie demands answers over ASIO leak 'attack'
Palmer United Senator Jacqui Lambie has demanded a personal briefing from ASIO's Director-General, accusing the spy agency of potentially "attacking" her by leaking against her push to ban the burqa.
And the Senator says the views of the security agency on the burqa are irrelevant, despite the Tasmanian parliamentarian previously arguing that it is a national security risk.

so is that the royal "we" because there are plenty of women in Australia who fear violence and hunger and by the time this mob of far right zealots finish there will be a lot more.
On having a privileged upbringing
I can only tell you my experience. This is how I see the world. I acknowledge I have a very privileged upbringing as many women in Australia have.
We don’t fear violence, we don’t fear hunger. We don’t have the degraded life that many women around the world suffer.
Who are the 'we'? Only those with a privileged upbringing in Australia? All women in Australia?

so glad bishop has declared that she isn't a feminist, apart from her stating the bleeding obvious - I'm glad because she only would have lowered the tone.

Foreign fighters bill to toughen sanctions on terrorists passes Senate
TOUGHER criminal sanctions against Australian terrorists have passed the parliament after the Coalition and Labor combined to legislate measures including the power to arrest terror suspects who travel to overseas conflicts.
The Foreign Fighters Bill passed the Senate by an overwhelming majority despite concerns over some of the changes and a vote against the bill by the Greens, Liberal Democratic Party Senator David Leyonhjelm and South Australian independent Nick Xenophon.
The bill was passed by 43 votes to 12 after the defeat of amendments put by Labor and the Greens.
