As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

One can only wonder what the ALP might have done with the Medibank IPO, I salivate at the thought.

The Telstra buy-back was OK,  I offered all my shares,  they were scaled back and sold, and I promptly bought them all back a $5.37, Even though the profit will be around 4% when I receive a fat ATO franking refund,  I have to wait until next July, there is a massive capital loss to store away if I ever need it, which is unlikely in a SMSF.

If this government is "stinking",  I have to say the previous Circus when It comes to business (NBN) , were like pigs rolling in the proverbial.

It's very repetitive and somewhat obsessive with all the references to circus acts and poor me.  Must feel rather inadequate in real life and possibly has a big crush on Julia Gillard or Steven Conroy.

But this tax has been around for decades and was introduced by Hawke/Keating  and under them it was meant to go up every 6 months.

This is NOT new and has always been there and is a LABOR TAX

So I take Deb it you like good roads and transport systems Deb but you dont think you should have to pay taxes to have them or even pay 40 cents a tank more to help maintain our roads then

We also havent had a rise on the excise tax since 2001  13 years ago Deb.... Cost of everything has gone up since then or dont you like paying tax..

I do remember a post from you yeasterday or the day before and you were saying that you were very happy to pay TAX so that it paid for the services we all expect... So why are you objecting to this 1/2 a cent a ltr rise Deb?
