Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

It's an incestuous main group that is about self-serving and looking after the elitists amongst them.......the people that told me their story and showed me pics were good people that sincerely left their regular jobs to serve some time o/seas with the UN.....only to discover to their horror what a fakery the UN show is.

Reminds me of our Aust Fed Govt atm. Cabinet 'reshuffle'? What a farce.....now these newly appointed people are supposed to be the cream of the crop? Codswallop.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

ref Cabinet reshuffle ........Former WA Treasurer Christian Porter will be the new Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.

No doubt he is friendly with fellow WA buddy Mathias Cormann, Minister for Finance.

Puzzling as to why 'spouse' is shown for Cormann on Wikki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathias_Cormann

.....wonder why no spouse is shown for Porter on Wikki ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Porter

I seem to remember Porter's first wife apparently not being very happy with him.......

"Personal rumours about the Treasurer/Attorney’s supposedly mid-life crisis related behaviour have also done the rounds last night, with fevered speculation on his personal situation perhaps informed by his past record of ditching the first wife, Lucy – in the style of Don Draper – for the secretary, Jennifer, after a wild three-day wine-swilling bed-creaking weekend at Margaret River that came to the attention of first wife. Not good. But that was then, and this is now and there’s nothing to the new speculation, Liberal insiders say...."

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

....to go from a WA State politician to Assistant to the PM of Australia within 2 years is not what most would expect imo.

This is highly .....err.....'unusual' ?.....or maybe Tones and Co. are 'desperate'!!

Porter has been classified by some as being a   “professional descendant.”

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

correction: Porter will be Parliamentary Secretary to Tony Abbott, PM

......He was our State Treasurer....and I think The State Attorney General for a bit too ....

"Mr Porter, a former senior state prosecutor, entered politics in a by-election in 2008 and became a minister within months....

The State Opposition Leader Mark McGowan (ALP) claims the (WA State)Government is in turmoil.

"The budget is currently before the Parliament, the budget has not yet been passed by the Parliament yet the Treasurer has resigned," he said.

"That is showing a major disrespect to parliamentary process, to the state's finances, to the future of Western Australia."

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-06-12/treasurer-christian-porter-quits-portfolios/4066142

.....imo Porter jumped ship in WA, putting his own political career before the people of WA

How can we be sure, that he won't put his personal wants before the needs of Australians?

Now they are just dying elsewhere.  We are not very often told what is happening to those turned back back, mainly because it is too difficult to track them.

Super

Stop trying to skew the discussion, which was SHY lack of compassion towards the drownings.

We are talking about the drownings, the 1200+ that drowned at sea because of Labors policies of "let the boats come".

No way 1200+ died because of the turn backs, especially since most went back to Indonesia.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Abbott says Morrison will be an excellent Social Services minister because "has young children, and he knows the difficulties of having a mortgage and paying for child care".

Sure.  His income is over $307,000 + allowances, and his wife's is $?.

Poor bugger.
