Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I suggest you know your people. Power is being able to pick up the telephone and make a call and get some action.

She had enough power to get Abbott to do this.

Suggest you read it. It is very enlightening. And yes, I did know about it, I only had to look it up.

Prime Minister

Subjects:

Reform and action on intercountry adoption;

LISA WILKINSON:

Now to some good news for families who are looking to adopt.

By 2015 Australia will finally have national guidelines for adoption and for more we're joined now from Canberra by the Prime Minister and in New York, Deborra-Lee Furness, who has campaigned tirelessly for these changes for years.

Publicity stunt by Abbott. To get himself in the news with a celeb.

Apologies for my previous post, was only supposed to have the Abbott photo and my comment in it.

No actually, it was instigated by furness, she said as much in an interview.

But of course when abbott does something, its to be with a celeb but that doesn't apply to kevin or julia.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Already mentioned before here, but worth repeating. Just so those waiting for her book to be in the $2 bin or a Charity shop will know they will have to wait a lot longer for that to happen.

More than a year after she left the Lodge, former prime minister Julia Gillard clearly has no trouble drawing a crowd in Canberra.

Fresh from a rumoured six-figure advance and with the chance to give her side of the turbulent years of Labor government, Ms Gillard spent more than two hours signing copies of her memoirMy Story in Canberra on Tuesday.

Canberra Centre management estimated the crowd at more than 750 people, with a line of political junkies and Christmas shoppers crawling down City Walk.

Australia's first female prime minister was to sign more copies of the 450-page book at a Manuka bookshop on Tuesday afternoon.

Described by reviewers as candid and insightful, the book could eventually rival former prime minister John Howard's record autobiography Lazarus Rising, which sold 100,000 copies.

The book, published by Knopf, is already the best-selling political title of the year despite being described by leadership rival Kevin Rudd as a worthy "contribution to Australian fiction".

No, it isn't going to make much difference to the average couple/person wanting to adopt at all. Movies stars/celebs/wealthy persons it might.

Kevin or Julia had nothing to do with that story. It was Abbott posturing.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Of course Furness could be totally supportive of Abbott's stance on this issue. However, she might disagree with his governments stance on refugees, cuts to education and health and many other policies. That one issue does not mean she supports the Libs.
I applauded Howard's action on gun laws after the Port Arthur massacre, but I would never vote for a guy who is guilty of war crimes.

Who was the person who said they found it in the $2 bargain bin? Obviously they weren't very truthful, lol

Someone who wouldn't disclose what shop it was that actually where they bought it from. Woman LOL

It may have been less than RRP, but often the big booksellers do undercut others a bit, even on new releases.
