Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Thanks Deb.

I particularly 'like' and agree wholeheartedly with:

Kakistrocracy In Charge

Clean Up Australia's Air.....

but see red when I read:

Mathias Corrman

Mathias Corrman the bankers best friend
Wants to ensure Labor’s FOFA will end
Financial advice is a lucrative rort
With ripoff commissions and fraud of all sort
Mathias is twisting all logic around
But justification just can not be found
Mathias is part of a government of lies
So his ridiculous position should not surprise

....and am concerned about Mathias' latest recruit coming to Australia's frontline sooner than we'd like - Josh Fryenberg

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

from supanova.....and definitely worth repeating, especially for all those 'righties' with a terribly poor memory:

The difference that ALP did not say we have an emergency, and they did not cut agencies helping the most disadvantaged in the community.

Under ALP the deficit projection was nothing like it is now.

LNP keeps spending big on themselves and lets their mates get away with tax avoidance,

while the people least able to afford it are expected give up necessities to help to reduce the deficit.

Please name some of these mates that are avoiding tax ?

Tax avoidance did not start the day Abbott got elected.
What did Labor do in the previous 6 years ?

And as kerry packer said When asked about his company's tax minimisation schemes, he replied: "Of course I am minimising my tax. And if anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read,

If their was blatant tax avoidance, the ATO would be clamping down on it.
A big difference between tax avoidance and tax minimisation. Nothing illegal about tax minimisation by any means within the law.

I am sure you all practice it.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

get real aps.....please!!

.....and http://www.crikey.com.au/2011/05/31/wont-someone-think-of-politicians-when-it-comes-to-pay-rises/

....

Submissions closed last week for a senate inquiry into the Remuneration and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2011, which quickly passed the House of Representatives in March.

The bill’s innocuous title belies a consequential proposal to shift responsibility for the pay of our politicians and senior public officials from the government to the Remuneration Tribunal.

The bill’s progress has generated little remark — the inquiry only received four submissions – but its effects will ultimately spark heated debate.

The Treasury’s “explanatory memorandum” states the bill will have “no impact on the budget”.

But the likely outcome is a significant increase in pay for members of parliament — state members too, whose remuneration is often fixed with reference to their federal colleagues.

.......Absent a market, the “right” level of pay for politicians will remain elusive. ....

Ideally, we want our politicians to work for the common good rather than their own.

By increasing dramatically the level of parliamentary remuneration we risk encouraging, on average, greedier and less selfless individuals to represent us............

.....Politicians’ pay increases would then be tied to the living standards of ordinary taxpayers.

Political decisions would be more aligned with the common good rather than powerful vested interests, subsidies to whom affect average rather than median incomes.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

LNP keeps spending big on themselves and lets their mates get away with tax avoidance,

While rudd was running australia, threse rein was providing welfare services for a Liberal government in the uk
Which directly opposed labor values.

Plus she was being investigated by the Uk and Aus for possible tax avoidance.

The most recently accounts filed by Ingeus’s UK operation suggest the company paid £2.5 million of corporation tax on gross profits of £38.4 million during 2011. The company legally lowered it’s tax bill by deducting “administrative expenses” of £32.7 million against its profits

As done by many companies, the same ones you say are lnp mates are also done by labor mates.

In Australia, some are now asking whether Ingeus has gone too far in its association, albeit a profitable one, with a government whose policies of austerity have been criticised by politicians on the Left - including Mr Rudd.

Obviously labor loyalty to the cause goes out the window where money is involved lol

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I see you provide no examples of tax avoidance.

And in regards to pollie pay, BOTH Labor and Lnp sit on the remuneration committee that decides pollie pay. It is bi partisan so you can get off that horse now.
