Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

interesting article on politicians pay, but old news lol

TONY Abbott says he justifies his increasing MP salary by working as hard as possible to try to scrap the carbon tax.

Kevin Rudd blocked a pay rise in 2008 but MPs voted this year to give away the power to veto a pay rise

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-12-26/dunning-royal-commission-into-tax-evasion-a-must/5985834

We need a government that spends less time snooping into our Google browsing history and more time investigating the theft of billions of dollars of tax revenue each year. Barry Dunning calls for a Royal Commission into corporate tax evasion.

It only seems like yesterday that a cherubic Joe Hockey beamed into the living rooms of Australia, making an "emphatic" commitment to each and every one of us that if the Liberals were elected he would deliver "a surplus in our first year and every year after that".

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Merry Christmas icy:)

As soon as voters got a look at what Hockey and his mates in big business had planned for them, the electoral fortunes of the Abbott government started to head south.

The beginning of the slide may well have been Education Minister Christopher Pyneโ€™s backflip on the Gonski reforms, which happened late in 2013. Gonski, too, has an equity aspect: it is all about pulling up the performance of struggling students and schools.

But it was the Commission of Audit and the budget that crystallised public perceptions of a mean and inequitable government.

When faced with the most radical assault on Australiaโ€™s welfare state in a generation, voters have responded. 2014 was the year that Australian social democracy fought back.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

You lot are clutching at straws trying to nail Abbott on tax and pollie pay.

Pollie pay is decided by a BI partisan committee and I never see Labor voting against it.

And the tax laws have been in place for years and companies have been doing it for years,
Including Therese Rein yet you try to say it is all Abbotts fault.

What was labor doing for the 6 years they were in office ?

Why didnt they fix them since they highlighted the issue ?
