Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Pyne splashes half a million dollars on focus groups for ads no one is buying

"Inappropriate and unacceptable": More than half a million dollars of taxpayer funds have been spent on a series of ads focusing on the government's proposed Higher Education reform.

More than half a million dollars is being splurged on focus groups to help spruik uncapping university fees despite polling showing nearly three-quarters of people have never seen the taxpayer-funded ads the "market research" is helping design

.

Polling conducted by UMR for the National Tertiary Education Union shows 74 per cent of the 1000 people surveyed could not recognise screen shots from the publicly-funded ads Education Minister Christopher Pyne announced earlier this month.

Of those who had seen the ads, only half knew that they were to sell the Education Minister's agenda and nearly half of those said the ad made no difference to their views.

More than half of the total number surveyed said it was "inappropriate and unacceptable" for the government to spend public money to make the case for its higher education.

Jeannie Rea from the NTEU said the government should stop wasting taxpayers money on what she said was "purely political advertising".

"From the government's point of view, you would have to conclude that this was a complete waste of taxpayer funds, especially at a time when the government is considering sweeping cuts to education," said Ms Rea.

Jobs and growth…but for who?

  • December 27, 2014

http://theaimn.com/jobs-growth/

ref. 457 visa workers being allowed to work in Australia:

......a massive kick in the guts to those 130,000 Australian workers in the manufacturing industry who have lost their jobs since 2008......

.....Under the new Free Trade Agreement, Chinese companies will be able to bring skilled workers to Australia to plug labour shortages on big infrastructure projects.....

..............................................................................................................................................................

....Australia is considering buying 10 state-of-the-art Soryu class submarines from Japan, at a reported price of more than $20 billion......an Australian budget of $20 billion would mean that all the construction would have to happen in Japan..... attempts to do any of the work in Adelaide would double the price.

.......And then there is the $24 billion that Australia had allocated to buy and deploy a fleet of 72 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets.

Tony Abbott said “Australian business has already won some $1.5 billion worth of work associated with this aircraft. Up to $7.5 billion worth of additional work is there potentially.”

The reality is Australian industries are only contracted for around $370 million work, with Lockheed Martin assurances but no guarantees of more to come.  Current contracts are only for 12 months.

Thank goodness they stopped the boats, right?

Because those nasty asylum seekers were going to take our jobs and destroy our way of life!!!!

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

.......

They may have stopped the boats…what was it…50,000 asylum seekers in six years? But what about the 62,100 who overstayed their visa this year?

According to an Immigration Department report, Migration Trends 2012-2013, visitors (44,800) and students (10,720) were the largest cohort of visa holders to overstay their visit. The highest number of visa overstayers in 2013 by nationality came from China (7690), Malaysia (6420), the US (5220) and the UK (3780).

The department says an estimated 62,100 people were unaccounted for in Australia during 2014, which is roughly 1.2 per cent of the 5.5 million people who enter the country each year on temporary visas.

.....what a farce Smiley LOL

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Don't throw stones in glass houses. The number jumped by higher amounts under Labor while Gillard was PM.

But under Labor, you had 60,000 + the 50,000 ILLEGAL asylum seekers, at least under the LNP

you only have the 60,000 so you are more than 40% ahead of where Labor was.

Have a nice day Smiley LOL

We could get double our bang for a buck, 2 for 1.

We could use the F35's and Subs on the Asylum Seeker boats, stop the boats and target practice !

If you were buying and building a house, would you choose a builder who had a long history of huge cost blow outs,

and failed design and buildings.

I somehow doubt it.

Best bang for the buck, regardless of where it is built.

Re F-35, we do a fair bit of work for it and other aircraft.
