Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I think the subs were sold out to get the FTA signed - just like we agreed to buy masses of weapons from South Korea - then there is the dodgy planes that nobody else wants - that was just a favour to the US, we are the third biggest customer of US weapons which is a bit strange as we are a tiny country.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I think so too. much as they pretended they were considering the tenders, I think it was a pre determined decision. one that's good for Japan's economy

what happens if a sub needs a part?

what happens with future maintenance?

and we all know what's happening to Australian jobs

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

The problem is, we use deisel electric for things that Nuclear subs were designed for. If Australia had had the long term

vision, we wouldhave built up the industry and infrastructure here to be able to handle the building of nuclear subs, then

we would have had everything we wanted both in terms of jobs and subs.

Due to our status, the US would have allowed us to use their technology, even if it meant buying closed

nuclear propulsion systems that we could drop into our home built subs.

Instead we build D/E subs and then thrash them.

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/nsw-labor-votes-for-federal-form-of-icac-20140727-zxbl1.html

The NSW Labor Party has given in-principle support to establishment of a federal equivalent of the Independent Commission Against Corruption and agreed to refer the issue to its national conference.

The decision, made at the party's annual conference at Sydney Town Hall at the weekend, means the national conference will be asked to consider the matter in July 2015.

It comes after the former ICAC commissioner David Ipp last month called for a federal body because of what he described as a "breakdown in trust" in politics.

YES!   i so hope we do get a Federal ICAC, all politicians need to be held accountable

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

aps

there are reasons for this

In two-party-preferred terms based on preference flows in the 2013 election, Labor leads the Coalition by 60% to 40% in Victoria, by 54% to 46% in both NSW and South Australia and by 52% to 48% in Queensland.

Only in WA does the Coalition have a two-party preferred lead โ€“ of 53% to 47%.

Tony Abbott is considered the better prime minister in WA, with a nine-point lead of 43% to 34% and in Queensland with 41% to 39%.

But the opposition leader, Bill Shorten, is ahead in NSW by 40% to 39%, in Victoria by 45% to 33% and in South Australia by 43% to 34%

and it's nothing to do with posters on CS

I've been pondering Tony Abbott's comments that the carbon tax removal was a gift to me, a woman. I felt rage that he thinks I could be bought by a few dollars

Mr Abbott has said again that my wife (and other housewives) are now getting $500 more for the family budget due to his abolition of the "toxic carbon tax". I've just received a $28.46 carbon tax repeal credit on my three-monthly electricity bill โ€“ equating to $112 a year. Can the PM tell me where I apply for the $388 balance, or is this just another lie? My wife will need that money to help pay the 10 per cent increase in gas prices from next month.

my household has not seen any saving of $550 either.  I think you would have to have a power bill of $11,000 to see that $550
