Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Oh gosh, a politician who sledges, really?  and was (is) very effective at it, not that the Circus needed any,  Poor Me and Rudd generated their own material:

"An Australian politician's blind loyalty to his Prime Minister has become a viral hit online.

Bill Shorten told TV interviewer David Speers he agreed with a statement made by Julia Gillard - despite not knowing what she'd said.

Mr Shorten had been asked his views on whether the Australian Speaker should return to his role while allegations of sexual harassment are investigated.

He replied: "I understand that the Prime Minister's addressed this in a press conference in Turkey in the last few hours so I haven't see what she's said but let me say I support what it is that she said."

A somewhat surprised Speers then said: "Hang on, you haven't seen what she said?"

Mr Shorten replied: "But I support what my prime minister said".

Speers continued: "Well, what's your view?"

Mr Shorten said: "My view is what the prime minister's view is."

Speers then asked: "Surely you must have your own view on this Bill Shorten?"

Mr Shorten replied: "No, when you ask if I've got my view on this it's such a general question it invites me to go to lots of places."

The bizarre exchange ended with Mr Shorten saying: "I support what our prime minister has said."

Speers replied: "But you don't know what that is?"

Mr Shorten said: "Well I'm sure she's right."

A matriarchs dream man (politician?) and manufactured by the ALP head office: the ACTU.  Perhaps that might be a problem the manufacturing part allied with the ACTU, submarines and cars spring to mind.  That is not a good example though, our submarines are somewhat noisy, when they are working.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

" A key plank of the Abbott government's employment strategy is on the cusp of failure, with just over 500 job seekers so far joining a scheme meant to benefit 32,000."

I thought that would amount to nothing when they announced it. Of course, the Abbott Govt commented that their scheme was better than Labor's one ( even though Abbott's scheme is still a failure).

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

It hasn't even been going a year.

It was announced in May 2014, started in July - which knowing how long it takes things to get out in the marketplace

means probably August or September.

So 3 - 4 Months max, a scheme that is supposed to run for a few years.

You lot really are scraping the barrel.

Fine, you can them for this "unsuccessful scheme" but you also can them when they ARE successful such as stopping the boats ????

He could lay Golden Eggs and give one to everyone and you would still complain !

The number of men who disapprove of Abbott is increasing.  Before it was women by far who can't cop him.

55% of respondents disapprove of the job Tony Abbott is doing as Prime Minister – up 5% since the last time this question was asked in November – and 32% approve of the job Tony Abbott is doing (down 7%). This represents a change in net rating from -11 to -23.

75% (down 10%) of Liberal/National voters approve of Tony Abbott’s performance, with 15% (up 7%) disapproving. 89% of Labor voters and 84% of Greens voters disapprove of Tony Abbott’s performance.

By gender men were 36% approve/51% disapprove and women 27% approve/61% disapprove.

Remember all the time and energy that was exercised to try to regain the women's vote.

Daughters used, new PPL proposed, special seating placement of 4 women to surround the PM at the despatch box, lots of baby and women kissing (yuk),  comments on ironing, women and the household budget, etc. etc.

None of it has worked, and now they will have to try to regain the men's vote.

Interesting days ahead.  IMO a new chief of staff is imperative.  Bad advice has proliferated.
