As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

aps - if you didn't start posting here until recently it is a shame you missed all the vile threads about the Labor Govt/Gillard/Rudd in the year leading up to the last election.
What you read here re Abbott & cronies is VERY, VERY MILD compared to that.
It is normal for citizens to criticise the current Govt ( in a Democratic country at least), there is nothing wrong with that. Seems you and others want to stop that and force your views on others.
If one can't see that Abbott, Hockey etc give lots of material to discuss then one must be blind.

I am sure none of those threads made it anywhere near 5000 posts, they were rabid.

Oh, please. Hicks was an idiot, he happened to visit al qaeda camp before 9/11. When after 9/11 he realised this was serious, and that these guys are not the "freedom fighters" he though they are, he tried to get out of the country and somebody sold him to the yanks, who tortured him and in the end, after 5 (?) years, told him he will be released if he pleads guilty. He has never committed any crime, did not fight with the taliban or al qaeda. What a huge waste of money to keep people like him in Guantamo all those years.
And the principle of person being arrested, tortured for years, and convicted without any evidence is terrifying. Because all it takes to be in the wrong place in the wrong time, and then somebody making accusation. That is not the world I want to live in.
By the way, I would be very surprised if you do not have somewhere photo of yourself posing with a gun.

The UN HRC should be booted out, the offices closed. They should concentrate on where the real HR issues are
but no, they can't because they aren't allowed to.
As he's an Australian citizen who has never had a trial or enquiry into his case it is reasonable for a senator to call for further investigation.
