Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I didn't just think them up you know ๐Ÿ™‚

they exist. I will never get one as my AP parcel contractors are great and I do not want them losing their jobs.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Hhhmm okay.

But I would not support AP and pay postage for this sort of 'change to service'.

I currently pay postage for delivery to my address, nothing less and nothing more.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Yes my AP contractor is great too.............    *waves to Rick !! and I would NOT want him to lose his BUSINESS

I do know him well enough to know that he invested in his delivery van and his 'run' etc.

AP and this Govt would be abusing thousands of contractors if they attempt what you suggest.

AP were in a real jam a few years ago and offered work to people if they invested, which many contractors did/have.......so AP/LNP Govt should not be looking at stabbing these people in the back now.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Agree. It might be a way that AP wants to save money, ahead of a potential sell-off. Charge the same, sack the contractors/not renew contracts (whichever applies).

The pick up points near me are not AP owned sites, either, so they must be leasing space. My local one is at a Uni.

well, if they were more intelligent than ..... an amoeba they would have known that "voting labor out" means "voting TA in".

I agree in part.........BUT TA LIED his way into favour.

One of the main reasons this thread was started I am guessing......the rampant lies he told leading up to the election suckered in many people.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

The truth is that the likelihood of Tony Abbott presiding over a one-term federal government increases by the month - a suggestion that has political pundits scratching their heads and holders of marginal conservative seats looking decidedly twitchy.

i have been in this country for 6 odd years and i managed to realise that when they (ta and his ilk) open their mouth they lie.

before this election i thought "they can't be stupid enough to vote that twit in" and i believed in a minimum intelligence of australian people.

now i am surprised that the australian people are intelligent enough to breathe without headphones telling them to "breathe IN.......breathe OUT".

very disappointing. it's like living around people who LOOK like they are humans but behave like unconscious animals. like in the ape planet movies where people look like humans but have the brains of apes.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

The sale of Australia Post would be likely to earn the government from $2.5 billion to $4 billion, small change when compared to its annual budget expenditure of $412 billion. It (LNP) has judged the political cost of selling the organisation to be much higher.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

LOL lal !!! Smiley LOL but I agree with you but you do not understand the Aussie persona. I am not likening you to our Treasurer Joe Hockey but he has a similar problem-a much more serious one though in that he does not understand the species australis !

Australians are not simple but they are straight forward and call a spade a spade. They were/are pretty comfortable with a handshake and a drink to signify the signing off of a deal.........if only as an added gesture these days.

What Australians are NOT learned in is being used and abused by the media corporates like Murdoch.

......but they/we will not be taken again, I can assure you of that.

I am sure there are still enough Australians left amongst us that remember and know how to skin a kangaroo.

You need the animal fairly fresh to accomplish sucess Smiley Wink

......is that the noise of knives being sharpened on a leather strop?  *swish-swash, swish-swatch

Which unreliable information source did you quote when you said Post Offices used to collect tax/customs on imported parcels?

 aps replied

I am the source, because on smaller shipments, Customs made an assessment, send the parcel to the PO and

the bill to you saying pay on pick up.

AM3 asked a question as though it never occured, I answered it, them Amber came in and said the same thing happened to her.

At least with GST, all Customs would have to do is just whack 10% of the value of the Goods + the Postage onto an invoice.

Previously, they had to categorize the item, apply the duty and taxes, put it on paper then send it on.
