As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

to deb replying to aps ref how abbott avoided media and their relevant questions about our PMs visit to Iraq......where the real reason for his visit, which was to discuss with Iraqs leader 'how much' Australia's cheque for weapons of mass destruction should be written out for......

I think he's (Tony Abbott is) pathetic
what I haven't seen is the usual pics of soldiers (all 10 of them?) enthusiastically cheering him on... Is that in any of the video?
.....................................................................................................................................................................................
very cagey and dishonest, very NON-transparent......Abbott used to harp on and on about how Govt of the day should be transparent

to boris ref:
so has there been any word from the abbott regarding the terrible fires yet?
..................................................................................................................................................................................
why would a hypocrite like him be bothered with tragedy in his own country boris?
He has shown no form in this regard yet
besides he's too busy trying to organise more hardware to cause chaos and mass destruction to impress Obama

Here are the 10 or so 'troops' (actually a Troop consists of more soldiers than 10 LOL) that Abbott is supposed to have addressed.
A huge speech apparently, about how he was going to increase their pay to a deserving level in the immediate future etc
here is the photo showing ALL the 'troops in the The Mess......no speeches or business are usually conducted in The Mess. Looks like an all ranks wet tent Mess. Drinkies and social shyte goes on in The Mess for those that don't know-after the formal business of the day is over.....or a special dignitary is visiting .
don't know why Julia has written 'invisible troops' .......they seem to be there, even some visiting Special Forces Regt members too

This is official:
So, is the first photo. Tony Abbott arriving for an official visit as PM. He isn't mozing across the runway by himself. He has been met and greeted by Army personnel. (A Brigadier, did apssay).
Does Prince William slouch of the plane when he is on an official visit, with his hands in his pockets? Old Kev in the background doesn't get much of a look in.
That photo has been published for the world to look at.. not a good look for a PM to be wandering around in a formal suit with his hands in the pocket... you aren't on the beach now Tony!! Did he go to a private school? If so, it is a wonder he didn't get that habit knocked out of him then.

I don't know where you get that he allowed other publications and not the Murdoch press. Where is that from? He allowed no-one."The decision to exclude the Australian crew meant that no independent footage could be gathered and no Australian journalists were present to quiz Mr Abbott during a joint appearance with Iraqi counterpart Haider al-Abadi."
In other words....... YOUR WORDS ICY!!!!! .....
.............he didn't want to be misreported by any biased members of the Aus media.

No Abbott went off to write cheques out to hand over to Iraqi PM.....for weapons and ammo of mass destruction
Didn't he?
Mr Abbott also addressed Australian Defense Force (ADF) personnel at a lunch and announced a A$5m ($4m, ยฃ2.6m) increase in humanitarian aid to Iraq.
This brings Australia's humanitarian assistance to Iraq to A$22m since June last year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
How does that go with Australia announcing cuts to foreign aid?
I would think our near neighbours, like PNG, could do with an increased handout too. If Australia doesn't help them, no one else will (countries further away expect Australia to step in).
