Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Ironically this exact subject was on ABC radio yesterday, fruit pickers employing contract labor exactly as I described above.

The only thing I left out was they charged them between $150 and $450 to get a job and then Paying them 0.60 cents I think it was

plus as above.

Now I prune vines in SA for my deer hunting club over a weekend and we earn $10,000 - $12,000 for 2 days work

between about 30 of us, maybe more - plus have a damn good time doing it plus a good **bleep** up. Their is a heap

of money to be made if you are prepared to do the work.

Maybe it was so the Iraqi PM wouldn't mention the fact that the abbott govt has been sending Iraqi asylum seekers back to Iraq or locking them up like criminals. We can afford humanitarian aid, we are an international embarrassment with our gutless cuts to foreign aid.

We need to cut MORE from the foreign aid budget and / or target what is given even more.

We could cut $60 million from Palestine !

the jobs should be going to the locals who are applying for the jobs, not some cheap overseas workers, that is quite obvious isn't it?

According to the transcript, Mr Murdoch tells senior staff at The Sun that he was aware his journalists had been bribing police and public officials from the day he bought its sister paper, the News of the World, in 1969.

Do you want Abbott to create jobs here for am3 et al or do you want to educate foreigners in another country and create jobs for them, a country that is so far removed from Australia it isnt funny ?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-01-05/mildura-employer-allegedly-paid-backpackers-60-cents-an-hour/6...

A Victorian man is being investigated by the Federal Government over allegations he has exploited backpackers working in the fruit picking industry, paying them as little as 60 cents an hour.

The Fair Work Ombudsman received several complaints about the Mildura operator just before Christmas, including allegations of sexual harassment.

Craig Bildstein, a director with the ombudsman's office, said there were also reports the man had crammed dozens of workers into one home, and another 12 in a garage.

"The suggestion's been put to us that backpackers are being charged up to $150 a week, with reportedly up to 32 people being accommodated in one home and a dozen or so more sleeping in the garage," he said.

The man allegedly charged workers a $450 fee to find them a job.

It has also been alleged the man had been bullying and sexually harassing some of the workers on the property.

this would be what you were talking about before aps, not the article about tongan fruit pickers being given jobs in Tassie over the locals

Debra

Yes, that is it. I hadn't seen it in the normal papers yet.

I forgot about the "bullying and sexually harassing" !

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

When the conservatives were not in Goverment and controlled the senate and blocked just about everything Labor submitted it was democracy at work and the will of the people.

When the conservatives are in Government and don’t control the senate and a lot of what they submit it is blocked it suddenly becomes undemocratic and against the will of the people
