Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

The new cars were the subject of a political stoush with Labor questioning why Holden wasn't considered for the contract after it emerged that BMW did not bid in the original tender. Officials from the Attorney-General's department told recent Senate hearings the original tender winner turned out not to meet the "full requirements" and the department had to seek the best "value for money

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Wrong

Try going back to 2013 and 2014 when the tender was submitted instead of selective reports they are using to bash Abbott.

Holden could not meet the international specs, which isn't surprising as they have No expertise in the area of bomb proofing
The range of cars they have.

For BMW and others, it is normal, everyday business.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

As opposed to buying an over priced, under spec local product which wasnt holden done, it was to be RETROFITTED by BAE.

Smells to me like that would be like a sheltered workshop deal.

You talk utter BS, holden closed holden own.

Oh, wait. So, you're saying that the government is at fault for Holden shutting up shop because they didn't hand over fistfulls of money?

I wouldn't have handed over taxpayers dollars to a US company either. Would Labour have done so?

*typo

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I sometimes wonder if some of you prefer Government subsidised Sheltered workshops as work places.

I live between the holden and Ford locations, have watched it for 30 years so well versed in what goes on.

They could not compete in the real world as it changed, end of story.

Why should I pay taxes to keep Holden open ?

The same occurred in the US, big fat union workers got over taken by other companies that came in and set up shop in the US.

Toyota and others can do it, GM, ford couldn't.

Oh dear. You need to learn how to speak BS. They didn't go with Holden because they already knew they were going to pull out.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Labor did subsidize them didn't they? It kept people in jobs, kept them paying taxes and paying their wages back Into the economy. So not a bad investment imo

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Debra

You went a govt subsidised sheltered workshop.

Fine, you pay for it.

Why should we pay a foreign company to stay open ?

Jobs alone isn a good enough reason for a private company to be kept afloat.
