As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

maybe only smart people read/watch the ABC.
I tell you the ABC 24 station is simply the best. I bet Rupert has nightmares about that one being free to air

Would never happen, the ABC and listeners are too welded on to the money teet provided by the Gov't.
it's called ABC because A, B and C are the 3 individuals it takes to do what in the Commercial sector takes 1 person !
Smart, no, biased, yes.

I had a look at skynews on Sat. night, they were so far behind ABC24 it wasn't funny
I do quite like David Spears, but he's about the only talent they've got

Never thought much of Sky.
Too much regurgitation of others info.

to deb ref:
Prime Minister Tony Abbott will today confirm he has dropped his "signature" paid parental leave scheme in favour of a "families package", as he tries to convince his colleagues he deserves to keep his job.
In the wake of Saturday's disastrous Queensland election result, Coalition MPs across the country fear they face an electoral wipe-out and some ministers have told the ABC they think the Prime Minister should consider resigning.
some excellent commentary from readers under this article
..................................................................................................................................................................................
Cheers Deb. These comments resonate with truth:
To put it bluntly - Abbott is a 'meathead' & totally out of touch with reality, his constituents & the general public. Too little, too late. Nothing could resuscitate Abbott's appeal & certainly not another failed election promise....
Toxic Tony is a dud - get rid of him!
Clear him out and give us , the people , a viable Govt and one that governs for all and not just big business. Oh and get rid of the blue ties as they are now considered a nod to the 1% and a let them eat cake blast to 'us'.
Beware the mad monks' smoke and mirrors.

You do not have a clue how the ABC works, nor the demography of its listeners.
Your info comes from spiteful shock jocks who make living by controversy & attacking competitors; not that they could ever be considered competitions to the ABC. They just turn against anybody if it suits them; one moment criticizing banks, next taking their advertising money and could not be more complimentary. One day licking TA's boots and next...............

And you bit so well !
The bit about 3 for 1 is true in a lot of cases, a number of people who used to work at the ABC and now don't
have said that is the case.
The ABC should NOT be immune from budget cuts, it is NOT a sacred cow which some think it is.

As you seem to hate most of that which makes Australia the place it is perhaps you'd be happier returning to your homeland.
Or alternatively, embrace the Australian way and quit hating our society.

No, love it here, just don't like some of those on the left (and a few on the right) of the spectrum.
Greenies being the major one as they add nothing much to anything except hinderance, even
on conservation stuff where they have no concept of reality / the real world when they should.
