As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

D9275: "Dividends always get paid whatever govt Is in they did dip for a couple of years though "
Spot on D9275, which I have been saying for years. Even in the GFC I hardly noticed a reduction in my portfolio return.
The governments are scared to make any worthwhile changes because they (both) strive for power first, and the country second, but are beholden to an 80% (sheep, goats) greedy electorate summed up with my siggy:
Some while ago I advocated a SMSF tax in its pension phase, an estate duty tax, a reduction in negative gearing, benefits, disallowing borrowing and leverage within SMSFs. Some (all?) were within the Henry Tax Review which has been ignored (no votes).
So I judge (like you?) the "country's economic climate" on its backbone (business) and its odour on my portfolio performance (and the XJO), not the petty political squabbling here in the Sandpit, some by (back to politics) members whose economic background appears to be limited to gimme gimme what someone else has cos they have more.
Whenever there is an election (fed/state) I dig out my worn election poster and display it the local polling booth area, very few realise the underlying cynicism within its message:
Gimme gimme

mm12 - The Australian article posted - re corporate tax rate ( you ran with that) vs corporate tax take (which was what the article stated)
I assume you agree, that you didn't read it properly and it was you that made the mistake, seeing as you appear to be remaining silent on this issue despite polite requests for you to clear this up. As in making a big point of telling me to do research and that the Australian was wrong.

They must know that Morrisson doesn't have any appeal to the public, it is not what THEY want, they have to think what the public will swallow.
Mmm, don't know yet. I suspect it's all a game and a distraction until abbott can find another distraction like a good old war or terrorist attack somewhere.

All he has come up with so far is..... MP's visiting childcare centres, and himself out today having a cup of tea with some workers!

Never fear. He will start posting "your" error again tomorrow and reminding you how wrong your were to post a segment from The Australian article. Anyone would think a good old independent journalist wrote it. One of those ones who were good as long as they wrote for Murdoch then suffered a distinct lack of ability once they went freelance.

If that is what he is doing, it is a very sensible move by him then.
Smart thinking !
