Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Every one of them, 102 in all, will act to protect their own jobs.

Whoever thinks that any of them will vote/not vote for the good of the party/country/parliament is delusional.

It would appear that the ABC is a little "confused"

".........The Liberal Party's rules do not define whether MPs should cast their votes in secret or by raising their hands or voicing their opinions..........."

ABC

Pressure is mounting on Tony Abbott to allow his party colleagues a secret ballot on whether he should be ousted as Prime Minister.

A motion to spill the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister's positions will be debated in the Liberal party room meeting on Tuesday.

Whether a vote takes place – and whether it is a secret ballot or a show of hands – is up to Mr Abbott, the Liberal Party leader.

Herald Sun known for dodgy, sensationalised, biased reporting, can't be taken seriously.. unreliable source of information
For the first time, he also confirmed he would allow MPs a secret ballot, which could allow ministers to break ranks and vote for a spill.

7News known for sensationalised headlines and articles - can't be taken seriously, more fluff than facts.

Whether Mr Abbott will allow a secret ballot, insist on a show of hands, or decline to allow a vote at all, is not clear.

The Guardian: can't be taken seriously, leftie media outlet (not true actaully)

Tony Abbott’s immediate fate is to some extent in his own hands. As chair of the Liberal party room meeting he will decide whether the all-important “spill” motion is a secret ballot or a show of hands

He could be cutting his own throat if he allows a secret ballot.

Me quoting the Guardian, what next,  pink snippets from a self styled  "Independent" source, or a BIG comment from a Tehran based source?

"we have an even bigger CIRCUS IN TOWN  now"

"now" as opposed to, perhaps  "then",  or the Poor Me and Rudd Circus and knife act which actually ran for a few years. Bother, I will be in the poo with A3, because that is the forbidden zone.

As for noticing the odoriferous Govt,  I have said before that  the gangs are similar, and I have voted for both (not Abbott driven though). Thus I tend to judge the herd leaders by a more realistic standard, the  (my) economic world,  not Cycloptic twitterings and gimme gimme rants.

I think the term actually is "stinking hot" judging by the last 2 years of CBA and TLS (which are 61% by $ of my portfolio). That % is starting to worry me though, and I have still to sell my Medibank shares  after they have appreciated  20% in just over 2 months.

"stinking Govt."  whatever you believe, but in reality the ASX is rose smelling, not coloured!

Liberal spill: Julie Bishop appears alongside Tony Abbott as leadership woes continue

.....Mr Abbott says he expects MPs to vote by a secret ballot on whether to allow a spill of leadership positions.

The move opens the way for cabinet ministers to break with Mr Abbott and vote for change.

Appearing in Townsville on Saturday, Mr Abbott....

The surprise appearance followed Mr Abbott's declaration on Friday that Ms Bishop would stand together with him in urging the party room to defeat a motion by two West Australian MPs for a spill of leadership positions.

Did Abbott decide at last minute to fly to Townsville?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

The focus of the nation is on today's Govt and Prime Minister.. the clown and his circus.

vicr thinks stop the boats means the current Govt is doing a good job

mm think the share price means the current Govt is doing a good job.

There are many many more facets of Govt that are more important than the above two. Important enough to cause this Govt to crash down into chaos.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Freaky.

Supporters say Malcolm Turnbull will run against Tony Abbott for Liberal Party leader if spill motion succeeds

7 Feb  2:01 pm

Malcolm Turnbull's key supporters say he will be a candidate for the prime ministership on Tuesday if a spill of the Liberal Party leadership positions is successful.

Fairfax Media spoke to several of Mr Turnbull's political allies on Saturday and all said he was now expected to stand, though he has not yet publicly shown his hand.

"If the spill motion is successful Malcolm will be a candidate," one supporter said.

"Everyone expects it now," a second supporter said. "It's gonna be Turnbull v Abbott, there is no doubt about it. It's a phony war at the moment".

"What's on TV isn't what people are doing or saying behind the scenes," the MP said.

Mr Abbott said on Saturday it was his understanding the vote in the party room would be a secret ballot.

"The standard procedure is a secret ballot," he said.

Contradicting the Abbott camp, that second MP said that if it was a free vote, "I think the spill motion will get up".

Sources close to Ms Bishop accused the Prime Minister of effectively "verballing" and "misrepresenting" his deputy on Friday and noted that what support she has provided is the bare minimum required of her position.

Comment has been sought from Mr Turnbull's office.
