Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I should know for goodness sake, it was my post. You're right I never think about lurkers when I post

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Sometimes people just "get" what someone else means.

no biggie imo

Besides I know what my post meant, it doesn't surprise me that others who are familiar with my posts would know what I meant or didn't mean and vice versa

Your opinion only, mm. No one else here thought the same as you did about the post.

Speaking for all posters and lurkers as usual ?

Arrogant assumption

Some choose not to be as vocal as you

I am speaking for the posters/posts that originally commented by making a post, stating they didn't see anything 'sleazy' in the original post quoted..

No one else apart from mm, suggested the post had sleazy connotations, which he did so by making a post about it.... who else was involved?

IF lurkers had a strong opinion about that post or the comments made about it, I would expect them to post so. Otherwise we aren't mind readers. I was commenting on posts made, which are visible.

Even if they don't wishj to post they can kudo a post they agree with.

Not at all arrogant. Did you comment on that post at the time? or only chipping in now?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

As I said 'some choose not to be as vocal as you' and certainly are not arrogant enough to continually speak for others

I speak only for myself in my initial and subsequent posts and place myself solely in the 'some' category to which I referred

Perhaps you should try that too

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

For a moment I thought that the Kudos swap/tag protocol was over, but : you give me yours and I will give you mine remainsundefined

"If you read several posts back before that one, you will see other posters (myself included) mentioned a twinkle in Julie B's eye... all related to leadership challenges.. maybe she was looking forward to having a new leader, maybe not? We did notice there was a sparkle in her eyes when she spoke about Leadership challenges...

No one poster has given the impression with the eye talk that it related to anything other than political matters."

Leaving aside  the somewhat curious rush to "defend" a member of the pink sisterhood  for this (tawdry) comment,  which even the author "is not sure about"  :

"Yes, she's had that twinkle in her eye all week. At first I thought it was because she was enjoying the attention/cat and mouse game with the press, not so sure now, perhaps there is more to it. Apparently she and Turnbull are very close friends."

All I can find has been a post or two apropos Bishop's  "death stare", last one from P007 a week ago,  so a copy, or reference link would  be interesting to confirm this:     "other posters (myself included) mentioned a twinkle in Julie B's eye... "

I made only a cursory search though A3, but did notice a couple of recent comments, excerpts:

"That is not the point I made in my post though is it?   The PM is about to be ousted..........."  undefined

" He hasn't been in the area he was in the last couple of days for 10 years...................."  undefined

undefined

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

See I wonder what ousting the Prime Minister would have achieved anyway? I am amazed that 44% of one news poll I read with over 600,000 voters (or something to that effect) backed Malcom Turnball who has already been a failed leader.

What would have changed?  the polices are not going to change over night.  You would have ended up with a different sales man/woman pitching their sales spill to the Australian people.  That's it.   They need fresh blood, better ideas and policies that are fair to ALL Australians. In fact both parties need an overhaul, they need to be in touch with the Australian people while balancing the best interests of the country.  Having said that it would not surprise me if Abbot does not fact another leadership challenge in the near future.

For the record I am not a Gimme Gimme kind of girl!! I believe we need policies in the best interests of the country while ensuring our most vulnerable are protected.  See its not necessarily about handing out money as opposed to having decent policies that promote independence and engage people to be active in our nation and community.  All Australians have a role to play in ensuring we have a great nation.

That's my humble opinion, I am sure others have different opinions and that's great. In the end I think we all need each other, diversity of opinion is a strength and I think we all learn from each other.
