Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking sinking Govt.

"Who was it that said  there is no shortage of jobs?"

Yes A3,  who did say  "there is no shortage of jobs?"  I noticed a few OS,  and even a British parliamentarian: "Feb 6, 2012 - A government minister has insisted there is "no shortage of jobs" (sorry about the date)

As for treasurers,  how about   "I promised you a surplus garden" Swan!

Oh dear has the ABC and the ABS both  left  Australia,  china? India? perhaps.

Largest monthly jobs gain on record drives unemployment down

Updated 11 Sep 2014,     (that is allowable under the pink  history embargo)

"The largest monthly increase in jobs on record has pushed the unemployment rate back down to 6.1 per cent.

An estimated 121,000 jobs were added in August, which is well ahead of any previous monthly jobs gain recorded in ABS figures that go back to 1978."

"The Bureau of Statistics estimates that 121,000 jobs were added last month, but only 14,300 of them were full-time, with the remainder part-time positions."

ABC Fact Check: The verdict

The latest ABS seasonally adjusted estimates show that employment was rising in 2014 at triple the rate of 2013. However, those estimates are considered less reliable by the ABS, which recommends using trend data.

The trend estimates show the rate of growth in 2014 was double that of 2013.

Do not wonder any more D9275 !

Re: Diary of our stinking sinking Govt.

sept last year OK

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-04/abs-revised-employment-data-released/5865122

Bureau of Statistics revisions to its jobs data have slightly lifted the unemployment rate over the past few months.

September's seasonally adjusted jobless rate has risen from 6.1 to 6.2 per cent on the revision, while the winter months have seen their unemployment rates rise from 6 to 6.1 per cent.

THE  ABS originally took the UNPRECEDENTED step of effectively using no seasonal adjustment for its September release, following large swings in the number of employed people in its seasonally adjusted estimates.

At the time, the bureau said that the usual seasonal factors present in those months appeared to have changed.

However, now it appears that changes to the timing and content of some of the supplementary surveys were the main factor behind the seasonally unusual data.

Therefore the ABS has adopted a new seasonal adjustment methodology designed to account for the changes to the supplementary surveys.

This new seasonal adjustment has been applied retrospectively to the raw data from December 2013 on, and has generally pushed the unemployment rate slightly higher than it was previously reported as being

"Interesting" SN, but D9275 was actually discussing job creation, as was I. There is a difference.

However, if you wish to discuss unemployment history and PMs (A3 will not approve) perhaps you would appreciate (?) the 10% plus under Keating
