As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I would've thought that people would understand that if unemployment is high, it means not enough jobs are being created to compensate for those who are losing jobs.. the two go to together, hand in hand , so to speak
and yet we have Hockey boasting that his govt is creating plenty of jobs
where are they??

Your interpretation glee. Since the post wasn't directed at you,
It wasn't an attack, it was a general observation.

And oxy morons have the gall to call a waste of money. Paying for higher education for people who have no intention to use it or pay for it is a Huge waste.
It was name calling and it was a swipe at a poster who has become the target of similar nasty personal comments.

The promise was for a surplus in the first year and a surplus in each and every year after.

Yes A3, who did say "there is no shortage of jobs?" I noticed a few OS, and even a British parliamentarian: "Feb 6, 2012 - A government minister has insisted there is "no shortage of jobs" (sorry about the date)
Someone on this thread who thinks you can boast about the number of jobs created but not balance that out with the number of jobs lost (in the last 16 months in particular!)
Full of hot air some.
You should be sorry about that date!!!! Hardly relevant to the rising unemployment rate in the last 16 months!!

Dont bother.
Why make posts that don't make sense to everyone reading this thread? Trying to hide something?

I do get the feeling that perhaps there is a lot of (political) talk, apropos economics, but very little practical walk.
A while ago 40 cents was "dismissed" when discussing Medibank's share price since its float. However, the IPO was $2.00 and that was 2 months later, 20% appreciation in a couple of months is very yummy. I bought a bunch of them then, and now:

Plenty of examples and admissions on the internet. Back that up by posting some please."oxy morons" ? I cannot find the post you are replying to so do not quite get the meaning of the 1st sentence.
Educating people is never waste of money, we need educated population to compete in increasingly technologically advanced world. Our survival depends on solving technological problems. Nobody goes to Uni, spends 4+ years surviving on amount that leaves almost nothing for food after rent is paid, and then decide not use their qualifications. Some people might finding difficult to get a job in their profession, they might do other jobs, but that does not mean that their education was wasted.
A disguised way of continuing out a personal attack on a specific poster.
