Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Anyone want to take a guess at how many premises have been connected to the FTTN trials?

Remembering it's been 18months...

No, not 100.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I think Gillian Triggs seems pretty cool , calm and collected considering how they are bullying her.  Does anyone know how Brandis tried to bribe her into stepping away? 'other work in govt" what does that mean

Tony Abbott accused of scare tactics as poll points to hope of Bishop, Turnbull takeover

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott has been accused of โ€œpressing the terror buttonโ€ as a surprise boost in opinion polls for the Coalition suggests voters are waiting for a leadership takeover by Malcolm Turnbull or Julie Bishop.

The Coalitionโ€™s primary vote jumped a modest, but significant, three per cent to 38 per cent in two weeks, according to a Newspoll published today. But voters continue to mark down the struggling PM. One explanation for the Coalitionโ€™s stronger showing is that voters are factoring in the removal of Mr Abbott and are looking forward to leadership by Malcolm Turnbull or Julie Bishop.

They have decided the Prime Minister is out of touch with the electorate and is not trustworthy, Newspoll, published in The Australian, found.

This is a tie with the Labor Opposition.

Laborโ€™s primary vote dropped from 41 per cent to 38 per cent and its domination of the two-party preferred vote, after allocation of preferences, fell from 57 per cent to 53 per cent.

Opposition Leader Bill Shortenโ€™s rating as preferred Prime Minister was eroded, falling from 48 per cent to 43 per cent over the fortnight while Mr Abbottโ€™s rose from 30 to 35 per cent.

However, the rating of Mr Abbottโ€™s performance remains dismal with 68 per cent still unhappy with how he is doing his job. Dissatisfaction with Mr Shorten left from 40 per cent to 49 per cent, Newspoll found.

I wouldn't call admitting to being rattled and shocked as being "pretty cool, calm and collected.

She got what was due for being biased.

The terms of employment in the future will be changed when she leaves and the new one appointed.

http://www.theage.com.au/comment/scaremongering-about-government-debt-is-not-helping-borrowing-more-...

Scaremongering about government debt is not helping; borrowing more might

Australia should take advantage of the ultra-low interest rates on offer.

I am worried about debt. I am worried about some of the things News Corporation newspapers are saying about debt. For most of its life, News Corporation has been up to its eyeballs in debt. That is how it grew big.

In 1990, a few years after buying 20th Century Fox, it was paying more than $1 billion a year in interest.  A billion dollars was an awful lot of money back then. News Corporation owed more than it was worth.

Her report was not biased. It condemned both Labor and Coalinc as well as acknowledging coalinc for reducing the numbers of children in detention.
