Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Can you believe this from the QLD LNP?

An International Women's Day lunch at a club with a male membership requirement.

Women only clubs have the same type of comment.

And would you believe it, women like to organise functions at men only or men dominated club

(at least in two of the clubs in Melbourne, one of which is directly opposite a / the exclusive

woman only club).

And if it was held at a women only club, is that not the same ?

Or do you have a problem with male only clubs ?

errr.....the lunch was organised by women

so what's the problem?

“The venue was chosen simply on the basis of availability, price and flexibility in a CBD location.

“LNP Women appreciate the efforts of Tattersall’s Club in accommodating their function at short notice.”

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Mr Abbott may have overstated the significance of the lunch, as its speakers remained ineligible for Tatts membership.

"LNP Women appreciate the efforts of Tattersall's Club in accommodating their function at short notice.

Queensland Minister for Women Shannon Fentiman appeared surprised at the move.

"Seriously? You can't make this stuff up," she said.

"It shows how out-of-touch the LNP are and their excuse of organising the event at short notice just doesn't stack up, because International Women's Day is held on the eighth of March every year.

"They would have had plenty of warning it was coming."

shame the women are not allowed to join the club.

Does that mean you have to be a married woman to join the LNP Women's group?

http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/mar/04/police-investigate-save-the-children-whistlebl...

Child protection whistleblowers who alerted the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) to child sexual abuse, violence and self-harm on Nauru are being investigated by the Australian federal police.

The report is excoriating of both Labor and Coalition administrations for their policies and practice of detaining children.

The commission was refused permission to visit Nauru. It relied on first-hand professional accounts such as submission 183, and testimony from detainees. The commission found: “Children on Nauru are suffering from extreme levels of physical, emotional, psychological and developmental distress.”

Tony Abbott has rejected the report as partisan, and a “transparent stitch-up”.

The AFP confirmed to the commission it was investigating the author or authors of submission 183 over the attached working documents.

Police are investigating a suspected breach of section 70 of the Crimes Act, concerning “disclosure of information by commonwealth officers”. A single disclosure carries a penalty of up to two years in jail.

hmmm... interesting

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I went to one of those posh clubs in Brisbane once, as a babysitter, and was nauseated at the snobbery.

Just found this on their website.  Puke.

 MUSINGS OF A FRESHMAN

I like it when the group gathers, first Thursday of every month,
Debonair, dapper, dashing, a very distinguished bunch.
What is it, I ask, that attracts, such a fine collection of blokes?
The venue? The wine? The cuisine? Whitto's fabulous jokes?
The reason is more profound, more than clubs, glasses and plates
A force binds enduringly, they've become life-long mates.
