As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Tony Abbott announces new Australian Defence Force chiefs

The man who led Operation Sovereign Borders has been confirmed as Australia's next Chief of Army, but has been prevented from speaking to journalists at a press conference about his appointment.

Lieutenant General Angus Campbell will take the job in May, while Air Vice-Marshal Gavin Davies will become Chief of the Air Force in July.

....While both General Campbell and Air Marshal Davis were present for Thursday's press conference, both men were prevented from answering a number of questions from journalists.

"The protocol I understand is that prime ministers, ministers and [the chief of the defence force] speak at these events," Mr Abbott said.

"The distinguished appointees will no doubt talk to you on another occasion."

Both men were moments later asked to leave the media conference so Mr Abbott could take unrelated questions.

 I see the Sandpit is in fine irrelevant political twaddle form., though I have noticed a few original comments which fit within the mould!

However,  it would appear the A-D-A Kudos swap fest is  somewhat minimal, would that indicate some actual critique is in play? Guffaw, not a chance.

The real world

NSW State elections this weekend, the MYOPS appear a little subdued regarding this event, unlike the last Queensland election.

Cricket today, Australia v India for a place in the World Cup final. I know it is not a malodorous topic, but it beats a lot of the C&P twaddle here, including the unresearched wides often pitched here!.

The ASX Parliament and the XJO party down 1%  but bouncing. Will  it make 6000?

No one is forced to read this thread. If one spends all their time on Netflix or watching the cricket, or strolling in the park instead, that is O.K.

NSW Election - sensible people prepared to wait for the outcome instead of making wild assumptions and exaggerated accusations, or spreading outrageous claims.
