Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

http://www.theage.com.au/business/the-economy/disappointing-consumer-confidence-result-ahead-of-2015...

Consumer sentiment has fallen in April as people fretted about the economic outlook, even as they felt better about splashing out on big-ticket household items, according to a key index.

Wednesday's survey of 1200 people by the Melbourne Institute and Westpac Bank showed its index of consumer sentiment slipped a seasonally adjusted 3.2 per cent in April, from March when it dipped 1.2 per cent.

The index reading of 96.2 was 3.5 per cent lower than in April last year. The retreat unwound more of February's sharp 8.0 per cent gain which followed a cut in interest rates early that month.

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has since held rates steady, but has left the door open for further easing if needed.

"This is a disappointing result," said Westpac's chief economist Bill Evans.

"We must recognise that confidence is again looking vulnerable heading into the Budget announcement next month."

"Indeed, recognition that the next Budget is imminent may have contributed to this month's weakening in confidence."

no surprises there Smiley Sad

A3: "Did Labor appoint a 50/51 yr old High Court Judge..with 20 years service left to serve?
No. No. No.'

Actually yes yes yes.

The Scullin Labor government appointed Evatt at the tender age of 36 as the youngest-ever justice of the High Court of Australia he  became the leader of the ALP later.

Also the ALP PM, Scullin,  appointed   Edward  McTiernan, who eventually became the longest serving judge in the court's history. 46years.

At least we  now know the name of the ISIS leader,  so in order that our troops can send him some Christmas cards, perhaps it would be possible for someone to come up with his address. It shouldn't be very taxing,  so I nominate Bowen.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Yes, I just read that one... very poor.

'When the emergency response team was recruited, part of the job requirement was "cultural sensitivity".

Transfield Services spokesman David Jamieson told Fairfax Media that the investigation was looking at a range of company policies that are likely to have been contravened.

It has been reported that the alleged offence was breaking Wilson's social media policy and the picture with Ms Hanson was the central issue.

But Mr Jamieson said the investigation was "much broader".

"It's totally unacceptable. It's not representative of the broader workforce. We are very, very concerned about this," he said.

Mr Jamieson said appointment to the emergency security team required "acceptance of diversity and several cultures".

He would not comment on how many members comprise the Nauru security team.

The scandal around guards on Nauru comes as the Abbott government is pushing ahead with its Migration Amendment (Maintaining the Good Order Of  Detention Facilities) Bill 2015.'

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

ho hum.. back to the current Govt.

In 1930, the Scullin Labor government appointed Evatt

in 1930, one year into McTiernan's term, Prime Minister James Scullin controversially nominated him to the High Court of Australia.

Qualifications A3 are required, as I have supplied the names of appointees that are within your criteria, in fact better!.

If you have a 'think' you might realise that in order to answer within your open ended question: "....Did Labor ....." would entail entering the forbidden time zone, pre Sept 2013

Oh dear.
