Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I thought a check  today of the much beloved source by political twitterers here, AIMN,  and the unreliable source according to A3 of the like biased newsnet.scot might be of interest.

11,352 people like The Australian Independent Media Network.

Did you notice that twitter account you pulled out has not been used since 2013?

Or that the account was only active for about 6 weeks.

Did you notice that the writers of an article post the links to the article,  usually using their own name.

What is the relevance of Newsnet favourites?

I don't read AIMN either, so I don't think I've posted anything from there, I mainy use the age and smh and Guardian unless there is a particular story of interest in another paper like the one I posted from Jakarta Post. Would be interested to know if I've posted anything from the aim thanks MM12.

am, I think any articles posted here from The aim would've been a very long time ago perhaps the OP did? The thread is over a year old now and who really cares anyway. More believable than the likes of bolt or rowan Dean or Miranda Devine anyway 🙂

There have been a few articles posted from The AIMN site, although not many.

A3:  Actually Twitter is:

Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets".

Twitter was created in March 2006

Actually if you research (sorry),  you would discover that "twitter" has been around and part of the language long before 2006:

you would discover that "twitter"......

But the discussion was about Twitter not the word twitter

Netflix steals Foxtel's throne but Aussies still sneaking into US service

US streaming giant Netflix has overtaken Foxtel as the video subscription service of choice for Australian consumers, but its local arrival has done little to curb Australians from continuing to sneak into its larger US catalogue.

New research from Australian budgeting app Pocketbook shows Netflix, which launched in Australia on March 24, has already notched up 39 per cent of the paid video subscription market, with Foxtel losing 10 per cent of its share to 38 per cent in the wake of Netflix's arrival. However, the overall market appears to be growing, meaning Foxtel didn't necessarily lose that many customers.

Murdoch will not be happy about this as his print revenue is already on the slide,, though his real estate site does quite well here

He will be happy though that our govt is slapping a GST on them

There are 2 reasons people are still using VPNs for netflix.  The content into Australia is still far too limited and the Netflix app doesn't work on many of the Australian TVs.  A couple of people I know lose the TV app when they sign in to the Aus site and it reappears when they sign in to the US site.  It's a toss up between unmetered content or variety on the TV without having to use another device to connect the TV.

Does that have anything to do with geo-blockers, VPN's? Set to US?

I must say I like having unmetered content for Netflix au. I haven't bothered with overseas ones for Netflix.

From what I gather it's to do with content ownership and licence agreements between companies, such as Netflix and Sony.

Some of the new TVs have a netflix app but the updates with apps have not been released for the older TVs.  With the netflix app I don't know if the premium content is available via netflix or not.  With Sony Bravia the only premium content that is accessable is through the Sony network.

I see, watching it via TV, apps and updates the issue.  Must be frustrating for those people. I only watch it on my laptop.
