As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

the LNP must've known about Slippers behaviour for years. Odd that they never outed him until he became speaker wasn't it?? Used up and spat out.
very telling behavour imo
Telling? in the bear-pit of politics?
I would suggest you check, because Slipper's history is well documented, and his peccadilloes were known to both sides of politics (they both do it) "what happens in Canberra stays in Canberra"
What brought things to a head was the "lovers tiff" he had with Ashby, who then made things OFFICIAL by lodging a Federal Court affidavit which had to be investigated and subsequently heard.
"Mr Slipper stood aside as Speaker of the House of Representatives two weeks after a staff member, James Ashby, filed a complaint in the Federal Court of sexual harassment, which included details of lewd text messages and allegations Mr Slipper had handed over signed Cabcharge dockets with blank amounts."

Hasn't Slipper been cleared?

here it is.... due to recent developments (involving MP's and their families) it's now the Employers who are the Scammers
Joe Hockey has characterised employers who change their parental leave schemes to ensure workers maintain the same level of benefits as trying to โscamโ the government and the taxpayer.
I hope some journo has film of him calling them scammers in his interview this morning, so he can't deny it tomorrow

Oh, and I forgot Wyatt Roy's involvement.... You really should do your research and see Where Ashby "appeared" from. MM 12. . I wonder if just anyone without any prior experience could get a job as a staffer.
Perhaps C&Ps do have a certain logical attraction!
Wonder not and do some research! As for Roy, what involvement of import would that be D9275? (exclude hearsay)
What on earth does "Where Ashby "appeared" from. MM 12" have to do with the start of this "guilt by association " that you appear to promote?
The whole matter "blew up" because Ashby went to the Federal Police, all the twitterings apropos early alleged associations have nothing to do with the post complaint investigations.
"Hasn't Slipper been cleared?" NO!
Jul 2014
"Former federal parliamentary speaker Peter Slipper has been found guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court on three counts of dishonesty over the misuse of his parliamentary Cabcharge allowance.

Excerpt 2 today
Federal budget 2015: Joe Hockey's growth message is spend, spend, spend
But the newly ebullient Treasurer has conceded one of his budget's key stimulus measures, the accelerated depreciation tax deduction for small business, has had to be funded out of general revenue despite earlier stipulating that all new spending would be offset by new and equivalent savings.
Well worth repeating twice, or is that four times, or maybe six times now?
Many times now, and as usual with no original additional input or comments from the C&Pers, however stimulation of Kudos swapping would appear to be de rigueur.
I do find it perplexing within a "debate" when participant's contributions are nothing other than excerpts from a link (someone else) I do understand it here though!
Are we now to be regaled with repeated links, or perhaps the gang do not read past posts, I know history can be somewhat intolerable.
We get what is posted, no one has any control over what others should post or shouldn't post. The articles quoted are on topic, which is more than be said for the twaddle posted.
The scroll button might come in handy instead of repeating the same complaints over and over again. I would rather see the same article quoted twice or more than that.

Perhaps not so for everyone though

Any comments from you on the current discussion about PPL and "rorters"?
Yes, a lot of articles posted are self explanatory and directly on topic - current Govt, stinking policies, actions etc
