Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Chuckle!

Indeed  it is actually really quite difficult to get any original comments from some regarding the news of the day.  Lots of C&Ps of others comments,  but a dearth of originality!

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

My thoughts exactly

Budget bites: The Law of Unintended Consequences hits Happy Joe

  • The backpackers' tax โ€“ what is the government thinking? It smells like another case of "Look over there โ€“ a foreigner!" Tourism is one of the things that is working well for us. The kids picking up a few dollars waiting tables or picking fruit spend it all immediately anyway โ€“ now they'll have less to spend.

The same logic that applauds the small business generosity, that it encourages spending, is turned on its head with the backpackers.

It will discourage spending, encourage cash payments and make it easier to exploit the backpackers.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Another one...

The coalition's amazing ability to shoot itself in the foot over what is fundamentally reasonable policy is on display again. Last year it was Unhappy Joe's "poor people don't drive" line.

This time it's accusing new mothers of "double dipping" on parental leave. All they had to do was calmly say the minimalist (Labor) parental scheme had to be a safety net for those otherwise receiving nothing from employers.

That's what government social welfare is meant to be โ€“ a safety net. And to think the government has battalions of spin doctors and ministerial advisersโ€ฆ

Woman LOL

A special mention for my pick as perhaps the most inane comment in the budget papers starts the summary of the Northern Australia infrastructure subsidy: "A strong north means a strong nation."

Well that makes it easy โ€“ just pour all our budget into the Top End and forget the rest of the country as it will be strong if the north is.

Oh, and I forgot Wyatt Roy's involvement.... You really should do your research and see Where Ashby "appeared" from. MM 12. . I wonder if just anyone without any prior experience could get a job as a staffer.

Perhaps C&Ps do have a certain logical attraction!

Wonder not and do some research!  As for Roy, what involvement of import would that be D9275? (exclude hearsay)

What on earth does "Where Ashby "appeared" from. MM 12" have to do with the start of this "guilt by association "   that you appear  to promote?

The whole matter "blew up" because Ashby went to the Federal Police, all the twitterings apropos early alleged associations have  nothing to do with the post complaint investigations.

"Hasn't Slipper been cleared?"   NO!

Jul 2014

"Former federal parliamentary speaker Peter Slipper has been found guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court on three counts of dishonesty over the misuse of his parliamentary Cabcharge allowance.

I think you'll find that Slipper has been cleared of all charges.

The chuckle is so appropriate in this post.

The irony of a bunch of over used unoriginal images that have spammed the thread for months to attack other poster for their lack of originality is too funny for words.       :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Former Speaker Peter Slipper has been cleared of the dishonesty charges that have haunted him for three years.

The ACT Supreme Court on Thursday (26 February 2015) struck out his conviction for using taxpayer-funded taxi vouchers for visits to Canberra region wineries on three occasions in 2010.

The decision means he will no longer have to undertake 300 hours of community service or repay $954 to the Commonwealth imposed on him by an ACT Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker in September.
