As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Abbott & LNP: Blame women, blame Labor, blame Senate, blame ABC, blame Muslims or refugees blame welfare recipients , the AMA, doctors, the Western Australia Uni, blame anyone but who you should blame. yourselves.
Interesting D9275, the time of Poor Me and the Circus. Apart from the constant whinging that Tony and the boys called her names there were these:
Gillard blames others for shortcomings
Gillard blamed Labor Party enemies for slush fund
Julia Gillard blames Tony Abbott for asylum boat arrivals Gillard blames 'negative' Abbott for abuse Gillard blames states for failed mining tax Gillard blames Queensland for soaring electricity costs Gillard blames Tony Abbott for failed Malaysia swap deal Gillard blames Abbott for Afghan row Gillard blames ABC Learning collapse for broken childcare Gillard blames the states for energy price rises Gillard blames Serco for Villawood escape Gillard blames Howard for skills drop Gillard 'Blames Us All'

Actually the debate now encompasses more than making a plain mistake, and which you seek to avoid A3. Namely that I had admitted to making a plain yes/no mistake, whereas in the past you have not, even when you deliberately manufactured a wrong post, or even when an inadvertent incorrect post was pointed out, you childishly attempt to avoid any acknowledgement of either, and then post:
"Admitting wrong means nothing" (would make a suitable epitaph)
But this is "The Sandpit"

Fairfax-Ipsos poll: Tony Abbott's remarkable budget bounce
Tony Abbott's battle-scarred government has stormed back into contention on the back of a softer and "fairer" federal budget which has dissolved voter anger, papered over last year's broken promises, and increased the prospects of an early election in 2015.
At 44/39, it is the first time Mr Abbott has led on that index since April 2014 โ that is, before the disastrous 2014 budget โ and the first time the government has been in a potentially election winning position since February of that year.

Joe Hockey fires back at the AMA's Brian Owler
Treasurer Joe Hockey has launched a blistering attack on Australian Medical Association president Brian Owler's "extreme" criticism of the prime minister, while defending a federal government decision to help fund a new medical school in Perth.
But Tony Abbott stopped short of endorsing his treasurer's comments, stressing he had a great deal of respect for the doctors' body and instead responding to the specific policy concerns raised by Dr Owler.

A3::RESEARCH before posting - then you wouldn't be posting misleading information (about Mr Slipper, which my posts are specifically referring to).
When you make a mistake in a posting (and life) ADMIT it.
When you fabricate a post and are caught -out, ADMIT it
Don't FABRICATE posts
This personal philosopy (however often it is applicable) "Admitting wrong means nothing" would be best relinquished.

Remember those figures the Tele came up with the other day that Hockey said were the newspaper's figures, not treasuries.
Well today the PM claims those same figures are from the budget papers.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott says people who are working shouldn't be worse off than those on welfare.
The budget papers show that a sole parent earning $30,000 a year with two dependent children under the age of six has a disposable income of more than $66,000 after government assistance, while a single person earning $80,000 with no assistance has a disposable income of just less than $61,000.
Curious. Does this mean they use Newscorpse figures for budget calculations?
Or does it mean the PM just runs with newscorpse figures and credits them to the budget office?
Whatever the case, I do not believe a single parents earning $30,000 would get the full rate of parenting payment single.
And I don't believe a family of 3 is better off than a single person if they take home almost the same level of pay.
For example, the child care rebate that would be included in the govt assistance does not go to the family but to the child care centre. The parent needs child care to keep their job.
Nobody is better off financially on welfare than they are working. It is a blatant lie to say they are.
