As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"Australian officials paid people smugglers to turn back to Indonesia, says police chief"....."according to passengers and an Indonesian police chief......"
Deja vu?
Jakarta Post Mar 2015
Australia has sent back 15 illegal immigrants from Nepal, Iran and Bangladesh into Indonesian waters off West Javaโs Sukabumi, an official said on Monday.
The illegal immigrants had reached Australiaโs Christmas Island and stayed there for three days, an official of the Sukabumi Immigration office, Markus Lenggo, quoted the immigrants as saying.
The immigrants (3 days) story was nonsense
A quick check of the Jakarta Post does not confirm the ($) story. Nonsense again perhaps?:
Jakarta Post 3June
The Australian Navy prevented around 65 Rohingya boat people from entering its territory on Tuesday, pushing them back to Rote waters in eastern Indonesia.
Rote Ndao Police chief Adj. Comr. Hidayat said on Wednesday that the police held the asylum seekers after they were stranded at Landunit Beach. They were then evacuated to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
"They were saved by local fishermen before being handled by the police," Hidayat said as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
The Rohingyas were from Myanmar (one person), Sri Lanka (54) and Bangladesh (10). "Three of them are children and four are women," Hidayat said.
Kajuran, one of the migrants from Sri Lanka, said he wanted to seek asylum in Australia because of the difficult life in his home country. He claimed that each of the asylum seekers had paid US$6,000 to certain people to reach Australia.
"Did anyone hear about this? If it is true, we are being governed by hypocrisy at its worst"
And if it is not true (the crew payment) as it appears, we are being presented with unconfirmed/unresearched partisan nonsense.

"I hope that's not true Polks. If it is, it makes a mockery of the abbott govt. Paying people smugglers???
Will have to keep an eye out to see if any more stories come out about it"
Why not nip over and check the Jakarta Post for "information", hopefully better than an earlier story apropos the 3 day "holiday stay" on Christmas Island.

While some of Mr Hockey's colleagues believed his comments had been over-analysed or blown out of proportion, others were in no doubt he had gaffed again, and said the government could not afford to carry him into an election year.
One senior MP said Mr Abbott should wait until the parliament rose for the winter and replace Mr Hockey with Social Services Minister Scott Morrison.
