As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Who is the they that was allowed inside? One local photographer or the national press that follow the PM?
not sure exactly how many photographers
were there. the images that have been
published in online papers were taken by
different photographers.

you missed a few more lines:
Outside the afternoon tea, a silent protest against asylum seeker policy and other social issues was staged, with outspoken Anglican leader Father Rod Bower leading the way.
There were cheers and hugs from the faithful, and protests from union representatives and members of the public over funding cutbacks and the government's asylum seeker policy.
Oh dear, I missed one sentence... That makes 2 whole sentences within the whole article, so the article is obviously not about the protest

no lol
you missed 2 sentences lol

"so whoever said the ABC covered the protest was INCORRECT"
Really? "INCORRECT " ?, and who exactly said the the ABC covered the protest, or where is the actual comment?.
Being used to the odd inaccuracies within posts I would mention that my references were:
"The media reports, including the ABC's, (and photographs) would appear to have covered Abbotts PR visit authentically"
And:
"Oh dear where does that put the ABC who also covered the visit? "
Note the term "visit".
"so whoever said the ABC covered the visit was.......... CORRECT

The ABC did not cover the protest, and that is that, to make It sound as if they did is poor form but hey, that's nothing new ๐

One sentence Julia, but who really cares, the article is not about the protest there are only 2 sentences within the whole article about it- perhaps that was the ABC's way of getting around not being able to report on it... I don't really know
on โ03-07-2015 04:14 PM
no. you missed two sentences.
you posted one and omitted two others -
implying there was only one line referring
to the protest. that was clearly incorrect.
1 There were cheers and hugs from the faithful, and protests from union representatives and members of the public over funding cutbacks and the government's asylum seeker policy.
2 Outside the fundraiser, local workers and residents protested the government's cuts to pensions, unaffordable University fees, attacks on Medicare and cuts to public services.
3 Outside the afternoon tea, a silent protest against asylum seeker policy and other social issues was staged, with outspoken Anglican leader Father Rod Bower leading the way.
so from one line to three paragraphs

It was a Liberal Party fundraiser so that would probably be why the photographers were not invited.
