Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

it was very relevant, as they both made no sense and abbott  is our Current PM

i keep forgetting that comments such as these:

It means that he is secretly related to Dubya.   Or that punches to the head can be just as damaging as alcohol and cocaine to the brain.

are considered to be quality contributions

At least most make contributions, there are a couple of ID's who never post anything relevant, just comment on others posters, which I find a bit odd, oh well, each to their own, lol

At least some make real posts, there are a couple of ID's who never post anything original, just occasionally comment on others work after C&P-ing it,  which I am  used to, oh well, each to their own. or others work, lol.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I gather Harvey Shorten made a speaking appearance last week, somewhat to the chagrin of the party, according to the ABC's  "Insiders". I will dig it up, as most of the time his "minders" wisely keep him on lay-by.

Harvey Shorten I understand is the Leader of the Opposition, I think.

Nope, you've been mislead. The leader of Labor is Bill Shorten and the leader of the Greens is Richard Di Natale. I don't think there is even an MP named Harvey in the Federal Parliament.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

QandA time.

The ABCโ€™s flagship political discussion program Q&A will now just be Tony Abbott standing in a row of empty audience seats asking questions, before running back to the stage to answer them.

It comes following a Government-commissioned review of the program that found the Governmentโ€™s agenda wasnโ€™t being accurately implemented.

In a ten-flag press conference today, Mr Abbott said the changes were required to safeguard the programโ€™s broad appeal. โ€œThis is the best way to ensure Australians hear a wide range of the Governmentโ€™s views,โ€ he said.

While audience members will no longer be permitted under the new format โ€“ a move designed for their own safety โ€“ Peta Credlin will be given special access to the studio to ensure the correct questions are asked.

Mr Abbott dismissed claims that the changes represented a restriction of free speech. โ€œWe all believe in free speech. But we need to make sure we have the right kind of free speech,โ€ he said.

Former presenter Tony Jones will be replaced with a flag.

Thanks Shovel.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Of little interest and on lay-by, that is the brothers of the ACTU's man; Harvey Shorten, or as the Bard sort of wrote:

"What's in a name? That which we call a "leader" by any other name would smell as stale."
