Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

To those who cannot find a post about US politics, there is none.

There was a post demonstrating that a convoluted unintelligible sentence of the PM is likened to the convoluted unitelligible sentences of Bush, and postulating as to the cause.

Q&A boycott: Barnaby Joyce warns of 'chaos' if Tony Abbott disobeyed

Deputy Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce has warned of chaos if frontbenchers disobey Prime Minister Tony Abbott's wishes for his frontbench not to appear on Q&A, in comments that will intensify pressure on Malcolm Turnbull to explain whether he will join a boycott.

Mr Joyce confirmed that Mr Abbott had instructed him not to appear on Monday night's episode of the ABC program as fallout from former terror suspect Zaky Mallah's appearance a fortnight ago continued

It remains to be seen if MT has any ghoulies.  I doubt it.

I doubt any SS wedding would be as decadent as the Adani wedding Barnaby went to with Gina.

It will be interesting to see if he stands his ground and appears on QandA or caves in to Abbott's wedgie.  Bernadi is daring him to cave, in the hope of getting a promo for himself.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

It appears that the MYOPs aversion to history is obviously a maxim of the ALP that I have overlooked.  Because recently when Harvey Shorten was surprisingly allowed to exit lay-by (for a moment) and asked about some quite important topical matters, his knowledge base did appear to extend  further back than May 20th 2015. and he was at a loss.

ON 20May 2015 Assent was given for the "Border Force" Bill (Act No 40) which establishes the statutory office and role of the Australian Border Force (ABF).  This has BIPARTISAN support and combines the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and some parts of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

In these times a somewhat important organisation I would suggest.

However when Shorten was asked last week about the newly formed  BF, he showed no recognition whatsoever of the new organisation or even of the associated parliamentary process, supported by the ALP, which commenced on 25 Feb 2015 when the Bill was introduced and read a first time.

Perhaps he also needs to brush up on parliamentary procedures !

ABC

Bill Shorten's office plays down apparent ignorance of merger

"Bill Shorten's office has sought to play down the Opposition Leader's apparent ignorance of today's merger of the Customs and Immigration departments."

"Asked to comment this morning, Mr Shorten told journalists he did not know of the change.

"We haven't seen the propositions around that, I'll wait to see details before commenting," Mr Shorten said in response to a question about whether he believed the two departments should be merged."

"Mr Abbott said he was surprised given the Opposition had supported the legislation in Parliament.
"The Labor Party voted for the legislation, I expect them to be familiar with it," he said."

ABC's "Insiders" also had a chuckle last Sunday over that "GAFFE"

However, in fairness.  perhaps from the First Reading to Assent (3 months) it was in a Shorten's lay-by period, and he "overlooked" the matter !

I wonder if he repeated a recent utterance of his: "I won't give the sort of answer I gave."

My suggestion: put Harvey Shorten back on lay-by , or give him some history lessons.
