Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Whether I posted after you or not, I wasn't responding to you... I remember it was polks. I was responding to:

"Oh, wasn't it me who posted Antony Green's article on why an early election couldn't be called? You must've missed my post..... That seems to happen a lot"

Actually if you had read Green's article you would have noticed that he never stated that "an early election couldn't be called , you must've missed that part.

As for your Google link to Windsor 2009 you might have missed  that the article is headed:

Mining and the Liverpool Plains

The fight continues to disallow mining activities in the Liverpool Plains until

scientific knowledge of the groundwater and surface water is fully

understood.

Note the sensible qualification "until"

Windsor is/was a level headed astute politician and he would not flatly oppose a  mining development (unlike some)  without calling for hydrological survey.

Making definitive statements without support calls for a challenge, and  these answers are genuine chuckle material:

" I remember them very well so not neccessary for me to search for them.".

"I don't feel I have to "prove " anything to anyone as I already know..."

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

well, golly gosh  Woman Surprised

you said  (post 13701)

BJ has done well maintaining his "fake" outrage for 6 years, and Windsor has his own political misinformation  agenda which the MYOPS will quote, sans checking.

gleee said  (post 13718)

The water trigger is about protecting the water system at risk from inappropriate coal mines.

It has always been about large coal mines in the Liverpool Plains area, as well as other areas.  Mr Windsor has voiced his concerns numerous times about the Watermark/Shehua mine and expressed his concern about any new large mines on the Plains impact on the water resource.

I said (post 13729)

it sure does prove what you posted Glee, he has always said he does not oppose mining however he opposed this mine because of the potential damage it can do to the  water system

so do you mean  and Windsor has his own political misinformation  agenda which the MYOPS will quote, sans checking.

OR

Windsor is/was a level headed astute politician and he would not flatly oppose a  mining development (unlike some)  without calling for hydrological survey

does he have his own political misinformation agenda or is he a level headed astute politician??

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

it was demanded for 2 days that I "prove" that Tony Windsor fought this mine for a very long time

OK I give in

http://www.sixdegrees.org.au/taxonomy/term/1?page=3      (2009)

Farmers on the Liverpool Plains in New South Wales vowed to continue their campaign against the mining giant BHP Billiton after the courts upheld the company's unfettered right to access their properties against their will. But independant federal MP Tony Windsor says the decision will only strengthen the communities resolve, and warned BHP Billiton to prepare for renewed civil disobedience.

http://www.sixdegrees.org.au/content/court-ruling-strengthens-landholders-resolve

Federal MP Says Decision Will Bring on Direct Action

The independent federal MP for New England, Tony Windsor, who was at the court, said the decision would exacerbate tensions on the Liverpool Plains between the miners and farmers.

As Mr Windsor told the Sydney Morning Herald:

This will strengthen the opposition of landholders. The minister should never have granted the exploration licence to BHP.

BHP has good reason to be concerned. I think the decision will promote civil disobedience.

Windsor has demonstrated a long term commitment to the Liverpool Plains Blockade, which has now been in place for more than 10 months and has had over 3000 attendees.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

How does Tony Windsor feel about the mine now??

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-09/tony-windsor-considers-political-comeback-in-light-of-mine/660...

Tony Windsor, the key independent MP who helped Labor retain government in 2010, says his anger at the approval of an open-cut mine near prime agricultural land on the Liverpool Plains could spur a political comeback.

The former New England MP said he was upset by the Government's decision to conditionally approve the Shenhua Watermark mine on the Liverpool Plains, and it was a strong reason to return

The former independent MP, who played a role in changing the rules around water and mine approvals, said the Chinese-owned mine would threaten the agricultural region's water resources

not happy by the sounds of it- -so from 2008 till now his view has not changed

as I said 2 days ago, Tony Windsor has spoken out and supported residents against this mine for a very long time

and i still say it. I am sorry for the residents who have to live around it

Barnarby Joyce?? I'm not aware of him "actively" doing anything apart from saying the mine shouldn't go ahead. Am I wrong??

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

"it was demanded for 2 days that I "prove" that Tony Windsor fought this mine for a very long time"

And you still have not demonstrated that.  Windsor has consistently expressed the view that he requires assurances that the aquifer will not be adversely affected

Love the reference to "six degrees", "slightly" biased?

The Six Degrees campaign works with communities and groups across the state to reduce Queensland’s dependence on the coal industry

"But independent federal MP Tony Windsor says the decision will only strengthen the communities resolve, and warned BHP Billiton to prepare for renewed civil disobedience."

"Windsor has demonstrated a long term commitment to the Liverpool Plains Blockade, which has now been in place for more than 10 months and has had over 3000 attendees."

Gosh considering the  couple of items above were produced in 2009 it is somewhat of an exaggeration to say it was, after 10 months,  a :  long term commitment to the Liverpool Plains , also if you consider,  it was Windsor's "commitment" to the "blockade"

A definitive statement should stand up to scrutiny, so far the comment that Windsor has opposed "the mine" per se for a long time does not, he wisely uses a qualification, he is a politician

Simply put: Windsor does not want mining IF it mucks up the water.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

in 2009 the Liverpool Plains blockade  had being going for 12 months ( supported by Tony Windosr)

it is now 2015 - it continues with the support of Tony Windsor - which is a long term commitment

so

Gosh considering the  couple of items above were produced in 2009 it is somewhat of an exaggeration to say it was, after 10 months,  a :  long term commitment to the Liverpool Plains , also if you consider,  it was Windsor's "commitment" to the "blockade

why do you continue to misinterpret the facts ??
