Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

you demanded "proof" that Tony Windsor has been outspoken against the mine and has supported the residents for a very long time

Windsor has demonstrated a long term commitment to the Liverpool Plains Blockade, which has now been in place for more than 10 months and has had over 3000 attendees.

 you got it!!

I actually ask for proof that "Windsor has opposed the mine for a very long time" your edited version "Windsor has been outspoken against the mine" has a different meaning (??)  That encapsulates his water concerns not flat opposition to the mine !

RIGHT ! 10 months  in 2008/9 is a "very long time" and Windsor was then only supporting the blockade, his actual sentiments are shown in his newsletter:

I don't "got it"

windsor.JPG

Actual Windsor comments showing his concern for water resources in 2008  NOT opposition to the mine per se.

So lets have an actual link to support the claim that Windsor has opposed the mine per se  for a long while.(years not months).

"in 2009 the Liverpool Plains blockade  had being going for 12 months ( supported by Tony Windosr)

"it is now 2015 - it continues with the support of Tony Windsor - which is a long term commitment"

REALLY?

AFTER 20 months, 4000 visitors, a Four Corners program and countless newspaper stories, the Caroona blockade will finally be lifted today

"why do you continue to misinterpret the facts ??"

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

minor error on my part, they are now called

http://ccag.org.au/category/ccag/political/

The ‘water-trigger’ legislation which Tony Windsor has fought hard for over the past few years has finally been passed to become law. This monumental piece of legislation was passed through the Senate yesterday, Thursday June 20, 2013.

oh look, there is that man again  in 2013   Smiley Happy

oh look, there is that man again  in 2013

Oh look there is a reference to my comments  a while ago wherein  "the man" displays his concern (yet again) for  possible negative effects upon aquifers, not opposition per se to "the mine"

excerpt:

"it is important to have a process in placeto give all involved confidence that any decisions made would be based on science and not on short term economic returns to the State Governments."

That would appear to be  acceptance with a qualification,  certainly not "long term opposition"

My view:

It is important to have a process in place to give all involved confidence that any decisions made would be based on science,  and not on knee jerk reactions from those lacking any scientific expertise.

It is important  to back up comments within a debate with credible references,  otherwise all following will be regarded as questionable e.g.:  "Oh, wasn't it me who posted Antony Green's article on why an early election couldn't be called? ...., which was incorrect.

there is more if you go looking

Thanks G58, but the link has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with long term opposition  to the the open cut mine.  If you check you will find it is ONLY an amendment to the EPBC Act which covers water resources for CSG and mining operations.

As for D9275, only anecdotes, unsupported, so they are of like reliability!

"there is more if you go looking"  I have a tendency to doubt,  so please a reliable reference.

The water trigger is about protecting the water system at risk from inappropriate coal mines.

It has always been about large coal mines in the Liverpool Plains area, as well as other areas.  Mr Windsor has voiced his concerns numerous times about the Watermark/Shehua mine and expressed his concern about any new large mines on the Plains impact on the water resource.

it was Gleee who first mentioned the water trigger , way back on Thursday

It's hardly an anecdote when he's been fighting for the water trigger for about 7 years to protect the water resource for agriculture.

(from last Thursday)

my response (Last Friday)

it sure does prove what you posted Glee, he has always said he does not oppose mining however he opposed this mine because of the potential damage it can do to the  water system
