Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

this is what I think of

third overall and first capita basis

The fairest comparison is to look at how the refugee recognition and resettlement within Australia’s total Refugee and Humanitarian Program compares on a global basis. By this measure, the 14,350 refugees recognised or resettled in Australia during 2014 made up 0.43% of the global total, with Australia ranked 22nd overall, 27th on a per capita basis and 46th relative to  total national GDP.

The 2014 statistics are similar to those of the previous decade. In the 10 years to 31 December 2014, the 141,047 refugees recognised or resettled by Australia accounted 1.16% of the global total of 12,107,623) – with Australia ranked 23rd overall, 27th per capita and 46th relative to national GDP.

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/cruise-ship-boss-wants-apology-from-prime-mini...

An Australian cruise ship operator is demanding an apology from Prime Minister Tony Abbott and deputy PM Warren Truss for suggesting he is a liar.

Two federal bureaucrats conceded on Monday night that they did discuss the "option" of cruise operator Bill Milby sacking his all-Australian crew and taking on a foreign workforce to survive in business under impending changes to national shipping laws.

On Monday night, Mr Milby named the two people he spoke to in Mr Truss' department as Judi Zielke, executive director, surface transport policy division and Michael Sutton, general manager of the maritime and shipping branch.

Appearing in front of the senate's rural and regional affairs legislation committee straight after Mr Milby's appearance as a witness, both were asked to directly refute Mr Milby's claim.

Ms Zielke declined to contradict Mr Milby, saying "We did discuss the various options"

Labor has sharpened its attack on the trade union royal commission amid claims the inquiry’s lawyers had “coached” union whistleblower Kathy Jackson to attack Tony Abbott’s political foes from the witness box.

The Australian revealed the commission’s lawyers personally gave Ms Jackson detailed advance knowledge of the issues to be covered during her appearances at the inquiry, including tips on the topics to prepare and suggestions that she use her time on the stand to tackle media critics.

surely  TURC 's laywers didn't coach Kathy Jackson?? if they did, something is really wrong there

"surely  TURC 's laywers didn't coach Kathy Jackson?? if they did, something is really wrong there" You said it : "if they did"

This is coaching ? ( "if they did")  :

ABC Jul 2014    (not the DT)

Health Services Union (HSU) whistleblower Kathy Jackson has won an adjournment at an inquiry into alleged trade union corruption after claiming to have been "ambushed".

Ms Jackson said she wanted to seek legal advice, after counsel assisting the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption Jeremy Stoljar SC called into question Ms Jackson's previous evidence to the commission.

Labor fails in Dyson Heydon bid

Labor’s bid for the Senate to call on the Governor-General to oust Justice Heydon came to nought after key crossbenchers refused to support the motion.

ACTU secretary Dave Oliver said the tied result was “hardly a resounding endorsement” of the government’s “biased” royal commission and urged Tony Abbott to close it down.

“The ACTU has always maintained that the royal commission is a political witch hunt by Tony Abbott designed to weaken his political opponents,” Mr Oliver said.

The witch hunt is certainly producing a few of them,  and the frantic incantations of the ACTU and the CFMEU coven are not working.

A Newspoll, published yesterday in The Australian, revealed 68 per cent of voters want the royal commission to continue — 30 per cent said Mr Heydon should stay at the helm while 38 per cent want him to stand down.

So both Houses are in agreement apropos continuation of the "search for witches"

but fail to see how a ship permanently  operating within Australian coastal waters under the proposed amendments would choose to register abroad.

so I hope you understand that better now  too
