As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"As I've said before I have voted for both parties however I have never hidden the fact that I don't like the abbott govt. And I think they are a joke ( I am not alone in this) so,why appoint yourself to the job of " countering" me?"
The squeaky biased wheel gets the most attention, and the other sources of political noise here have seized up!
I will always "counter" information that is demonstrably wrong, especially here when it is purely to support a MYOPIC political view thus I am kept well occupied !
I also note a tendency to trawl even OS newspapers in an attempt to find any cathartic articles to support a political bias, I still remember the Jakarta Post article which even the slightest knowledge of immigration law (or common sense) would have indicated that it was nonsense.
I recollect that I often "countered" the "Captain" and assorted lieutenants in the past when they posted here, because they also were not above posting sans checking. or just a C&P of a link,. also sans comment (thought?)
Within a debate/thread, if someone posts "nonsense" a few times, the veracity of subsequent contributions will invariably be viewed with the same critical suspicion, disdain even.

It is only prudent never to place complete confidence in that by which we have even once been deceived.

pfftt
one link to one article from Jakarta post does not constitute trawling OS newspapers, if you look around CS you'll see other articles about that have been taken from jakarta post and other OS papers
i hope you plan to 'counter' everyone else too

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton apologises for 'vulgar' climate change joke
Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has apologised for a joke about climate change, which Pacific Island leaders have described as vulgar.
The Minister's quip about rising sea levels was picked up by a microphone before a media event on Friday.
It was made during a conversation with Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who had just returned from lengthy talks focused on climate change with Pacific Island leaders in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea

I will always indicate posts that are lacking in veracity, and the majority of the original "gang" here are AWOL.
I must admit that just copying an article without any original input, like the above post does not always work, the same as attempting to blame a copied article for mistakes that you overlooked !

so will I ![]()
especially when someone quotes a couple of sentences from an article that suits their own myopic agenda and omits showing the rest of it
and then claims to be bipartisan ![]()

Brilliant work, MM12. You've clearly highlighted the ABC's anti-Labor bias. Tony needs to see these - maybe he'll give them their $360,000,000 back.
Only the questions have been quoted, whereas in the recent interview it was all about the (non-) answers - Abbott's deer in the headlights expression and his repetitive, off-topic responses.
any comment on the (assumed) lack of ABC bias??

Having to read all your good posts and having noone to reply to them except MM and a couple of others. It must be disheartening, however keep up the good work.
