Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

How dumb is the Labor party though.  They have already put out anti Turnbull advertisements on the TV that must have been pre-recorded for this switch.

Just enjoy the lack of Tones with the rest of Australia.  Take note.  Poll today said that 70% of voters prefer Turnbull as PM.  Shorten only had something like twenty whatever percent. Time to get to work and listen to what the people want.

interesting times ahead Joono

this is what I wanted to know

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbott-comes-in-at-no10-on-list-of-austra...

Tony Abbott's time spent running the country — one year, 361 days — means he comes in at position 10 on the list of Australia's shortest-serving prime ministers.

His time as PM makes him the shortest serving prime minister since Harold Holt — outlasting him by just 34 days — and made up less than each of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard's terms

four days shy of marking his second anniversary in office, Mr Abbott spent 290 fewer days in office than Mr Rudd and 372 fewer days in office than Ms Gillard. Out of 28, Mr Abbott ranks as the 19th longest-serving prime minister and Ms Gillard ranks as the 14th, with Mr Rudd placed in 16th.

Apart from getting the date wrong,  if this current predilection for repeats  of the  Ides of March  continues,  the Libs might soon be level with Lab when it comes to a party booting out an incumbent PM.

I wonder if anyone wanted to know that?

'I am instinctively a loyal person': Joe Hockey signals he is ready to serve under new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull

Well, as all of you know, and you see it all, I am instinctively a loyal person. You know that. And I see the job that I have as one being loyal to the Australian people. That is why I am doing my job. It's what I'm here for, to be loyal to the Australian people, to do what is right for them. And in relation to prime ministers, I have always been loyal and supportive of leaders. And that is not going to change. I'm sorry, but I don't disclose discussions."

Despite repeated questions, Mr Hockey refused to clarify whether he had pleaded to stay in his current job or whether he would accept another role on Mr Turnbull's front bench.

There have been suggestions he could serve in the communications post, vacated by Mr Turnbull.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton's office, meanwhile, refused to reject reports he had offered his resignation to Mr Turnbull in the wake of the leadership change.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Mr Dutton had volunteered to quit. A spokeswoman for Mr Dutton would not confirm or deny the claim, saying "we don't have any comment to make on that".

Woman LOL  that's quite funny to even consider Joe as minister for communications as he did such a stellar job on communicating the budget.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

goodness.. the LNP have started putting put damaging leaks on Turnbull already

http://www.skynews.com.au/news/top-stories/2015/09/17/turnbull-faces-damaging-cabinet-leak.html

Turnbull faces damaging cabinet leak

Only one day into the top job, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is dealing with a leak of sensitive documents which seems designed to damage the new PM's standing.

Fairfax Media received a cabinet document dated August 6 showing how many women were among board appointments within each minister's portfolio.

According to the document, then-Communications Minister Mr Turnbull only appointed one woman in the 16 appointments that were made.

The document also shows Mr Turnbull's appointments compared poorly to some other portfolios. For example in the Immigration portfolio, under the helm of Peter Dutton and Scott Morrison, 36 women were appointed to boards.

"goodness" or gosh. How is it possible to have a "leak", "damaging" even,  of supposedly "sensitive" information that is on the public record and easily found via the Internet?

If one is actually interested in the freely available facts rather than political fodder go   HERE

It might be of interest,  these "leaked" facts:

"ABC candidates are considered by a panel established "at arm's length" from the Communications Minister. If the Minister chose someone not on the panel's shortlist, the Minister would be required to justify their selection to Australian Parliament"

"Once elected to power, Labor prime minister Whitlam replaced the entire board (ABC) - appointed by Liberal governments over the previous 23 years - with supporters of the Labor Party"

I must acknowledge that the whilst the ALP's expression of a desire to see gender equality  (on merit)  in board/high positions is to be commended, they failed somewhat when they selected Poor Me, then left it too late when they rectified their mistake.
Now that was, stll is, "sensitive"

Malcolm Turnbull: Tony Abbott warned about Scott Morrison

Tony Abbott was urged to secure Scott Morrison’s support in order to save his leadership, a week before Malcolm Turnbull launched a challenge to become prime minister amid fears of “double-dealing” that would topple the leader.

Mr Abbott’s allies had warned him against trusting Mr Morrison as far back as May but the concerns escalated last week when it became clear they needed the Social Services Minister’s active support in order to prevail.

Anger over the leadership spill is now turning on Mr Morrison, amid accusations he undercut the former prime minister by deliberately “running dead” when he could have mobilised his colleagues to vote for Mr Abbott.

Mr Morrison is likely to be one of the winners from the change of leadership, picking up the role of treasurer from Joe Hockey.

The Australian understands that Mr Morrison knew of Mr Turnbull’s determination to unseat Mr Abbott during the scandal over former Speaker Bronwyn Bishop’s expenses in July, making it clear a challenge was on the way.

At that time, Mr Morrison told Mr Turnbull that he would not be a player in the affair, would not engage and would vote for Mr Abbott if the tensions were brought to a head.

The Australian can also reveal that Mr Abbott was told on Monday night, just hours before the leadership ballot, that he had to cement Mr Morrison’s support or put back the meeting for up to a week to win the vote.

“There was certainly a capacity to get the extra numbers if we had delayed,” said one of the former leader’s close allies.

Mr Abbott refused to delay the ballot, out of concern that dragging out the fight would damage the government in the Canning by-election this Saturday, where Liberal Andrew Hastie is battling a big swing against the Coalition.

Instead, Mr Abbott approached Mr Morrison, but the Social Services Minister rejected a plea to form a joint ticket going into the late-night ballot as leader and deputy leader — an idea that came too late and would have widened the government rupture

Political intrigue via  political media, via  ever present political C&Ps (when it appears yummy)

"hope Turnbull is watching his back"

I do not think Turnbull would worry about the calibre of the Abbott limpets  when they are prone to making such inane comments as:

"There was certainly a capacity to get the extra numbers if we had delayed,” said one of the former leader’s close allies"

Not very likely when you consider what would have happened in the Canning bye-election.

From the same media outlet ( The Australian)  :

Bill Shorten has admitted misleading voters over his part in the move to dump Julia Gillard as prime minister two years ago, sparking taunts in parliament over whether he can be trusted.

That would be sneaky and lying. Well he is union stock!

In your link comments D9275:

"I also agree with the polls balanced at 50/50 . I would have expected more. I think it will only be a brief matter of time before the left press starts their pack-attacks on Turnbull & MT still has to fight the swathes of voters who are completely addicted to living a lifestyle they can't afford themselves , but are happy to have a Labor govt stick its hands into other peoples' pockets to give it to them."

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Being somewhat intrigued by the post apropos the terrible Turnbull and his alleged dastardly discrimination of women within the hierarchy of his communications portfolio I thought I would search for the "leaked" damming "secret documents" that would support the yummy C&P article containing beauties like this:

"According to the document, then-Communications Minister Mr Turnbull only appointed one woman in the 16 appointments that were made."  The bounder.

But, but ,  out of the 8 mentioned new appointments (13-14)  2 were only women. The bounder.  Hang-on a moment,  what about the actual portfolio total?   17 women out of 40 or 42.5%, when the aim is at least 40% ?  that must have been very secret,  or others do not know how to research.

And I found the "secret documents" in plain site on the Internet:  READ,    Things might have changed post 2014, but that is super secret !

Gender Balance on Australian Government Boards Report 2013-14

A few reduced excerpts, but it uncovers the "secrets" (don't pass them on)

"Communications" are the "secrets" to study.

Mr Hadley said a parliamentary source accused Mr Morrison of betraying Mr Abbott and damaging his own reputation for having “ran with the foxes but hunted with the hounds”.

But Mr Morrison insisted that the only person who offered him the job as Treasurer was Mr Abbott, who did so on Monday before the leadership ballot.

He said he couldn’t comprehend why he received the 11th hour offer from Mr Abbott.

“I didn’t understand it and I didn’t understand, had we been successful that night, how we would explain (it) to the Australian people,” he said, explaining why he rejected the offer.

“I didn’t understand why he wanted me to pick a fight with Joe Hockey and throw him under the bus.”

It has also emerged that frontbencher Christopher Pyne told Mr Abbott he didn’t expect there would be a leadership challenge this week, 24 hours before he decided to side with Malcolm Turnbull.

The eduction minister confirmed on Friday that Mr Abbott had his support the day before the spill which resulted in him losing the prime ministership.

“The truth is on Sunday there was no leadership ballot, on Monday there was, then I made an assessment,” Mr Pyne told The Todayshow.

Mr Pyne said Mr Abbott was given a warning by the party room in February and seven months later things still weren’t improving.
