As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Tele trigger for spill
Speculation about the source of a leaked story is one of the worst exercises in journalism.
The story in Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph by political editor Simon Benson about Abbott’s planned reshuffle was a key factor in convincing Turnbull’s supporters it was time to challenge. The story fired up many MPs who had previously backed Abbott. It was entirely against Abbott’s self-interest.
Politicians and commentators have thrown around accusations about who leaked the story. Some, like Ray Hadley, suspect it came from Scott Morrison. But many political insiders are convinced it was from Credlin
Demand to sack Savva
In a twist, Savva’s own job at The Australian then came under significant pressure. The press gallery veteran, who moved on to work for Peter Costello, has been critical of Credlin for several years, penning numerous columns about her management style. On Thursday, she wrote an extraordinary piece with several explosive allegations, including that Credlin had sidelined Margie Abbott and stopped staff members from assisting her with public speeches.
Diary can reveal Credlin in fact demanded via text message that The Australian’s editor-in-chief Chris Mitchell sack Savva as a columnist last year when she started reporting the dysfunction in the PMO. Mitchell resisted, something that Savva said she appreciated, knowing not all editors would have the same backbone. “I am grateful to Chris Mitchell for his support,” she said.
an interesting article from The Australian, especially on the leaks

"an interesting article from The Australian, especially on the leaks"
Really? with such "definitive" answers as to the poor plumbing being :
"Politicians and commentators have thrown around accusations about who leaked the story. Some, like Ray Hadley, suspect it came from Scott Morrison. But many political insiders are convinced it was from Credlin"
So now there is a multiple choice question (no C&Ps allowed) an actual/real what you actually think answer is required!
PS
An interesting article from the Bangkok Post HERE

A small break from the petty bleatings emanating from this political Sandpit to mention a really excellent Rugby Union match between the Springboks and the Brave Blossoms which resulted in a result that was totally unexpected, and which will be long remembered among Rugby Union aficionados.

I'm sure you all watched Four Corners tonight. I don't get it. How come the Libs don't trust the ABC and yet they spill their guts any chance they get?
Peter Costello was doing his Sir Les impersonation again.

@crosbystills wrote:In the Ray Hadley interview, Morrison states that he was offered the job of treasurer, by Abbott, hours before the ballot. He goes on to explain that he declined, partly because of the difficulty of explaining to the Australian people how Tony Abbott felt Hockey was the best person for the job one day and Morrison the best person the next.
Abbott denies that this ever happened.
ONE OF THEM IS LYING. Any guesses?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking afterwards, Mr Morrison told Macquarie radio: "I didn't understand why he wanted me to pick a fight with Joe Hockey and throw him under a bus."
It is a charge Mr Abbott denied in a beach-side interview with Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
"Not true, not true," he said.
He also refuted Mr Morrison's version of events, including that he warned Mr Abbott about a possible push against his leadership prior to Monday's spill.
"Scott never warned, never warned anyone, certainly never warned me," Mr Abbott said.
"I spoke to him on Friday [before the spill], not a hint of a warning.

Rightwing columnist Andrew Bolt’s extraordinary claim in radio discussion reveals deep rift within company over how to react to Turnbull’s ascension as PM
Malcolm Turnbull’s coup against Tony Abbott has “set off a civil war within News Corp”, the media company’s popular columnist Andrew Bolt says.
Malcolm Turnbull's overthrow of Tony Abbott has "set off a civil war within News Corp", according to one of the publisher's most popular and conservative commentators, Andrew Bolt.
Mr Bolt claimed The Australian was probably losing $20 million a year and was being subsidised by the tabloids he writes for, including the Herald Sun and the Daily Telegraph.

Boo hoo. Credlin is crying sexism, not my fault, in her first comments since the change of PM.
Her delivery is strrangely familiar. Lots of ums and repetition.
I prefer to believe this woman's opinion.
