As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

like abbott and turnbull you mean??
did you think Turnbull is in for the long haul or does Morrison have his sights on the top job??

"did you think Turnbull is in for the long haul or does Morrison have his sights on the top job??"
Harvey Shorten tried (and failed) playing the man, now he is vainly attempting to "expose" a meaningful ideological rift within the Coalition. Here we have a rhetorical question apropos a "ghostly" Morrison challenger.
Napolean summed up the somewhat obvious:
"Every private in the French army carries a field-marshal's baton in his knapsack."
A quick working Google read of a recent Roy Morgan poll produced these:
L-NP voters easily prefer Turnbull as Liberal Party Leader 70% (up 38%), ahead of Tony Abbott 12% (down 14%), Deputy Liberal Leader Julie Bishop 7% (down 9%) and Treasurer Scott Morrison 5% (down 8%).
โHowever, the news is not so good for Shorten โ who is also the fourth choice of ALP supporters. Once again Plibersek 34% (up 2%) leads clearly ahead of Albanese 21% (up 5%), Swan 12% (up 3%) and Shorten 10% (down 7%). Nevertheless, despite his falling levels of support, Shortenโs position as Labor Leader is guaranteed until the next Federal Election under new rules adopted by the Federal ALP after the fiascos of the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd years. Shorten canโt be removed from the leadership unless he agrees to resign his post.โ
One has to give credit to the ALP/ACTU for at least one positive outcome from the days of the Circus (for the ringmasters anyway) :- a knife-proof waistcoat
Well now Shorten is in for the long crawl, unless he falls on his sword/knife, and there are plenty of those lying around in the sawdust.

"You were never a RAAF jet pilot." Amazingly true TR, because I was a RAF jet pilot.

Same as Gillard and Rudd, 2 of the worst abject faulres in our political history. If it makes you feel good to still bag on about Abbott that's your business but evertbody else has moved on from that period. It's always the same with rusteds, they just can't move on, renew or admit any mistakes, hence the complete ignorance of what they did before.

I sort of reckon if some people still want to go and on about Gillard/ Rudd then it makes me feel justified in going on about abbott.. same thing really

this is interesting
Catholic priests slam Tony Abbott's anti-immigration Margaret Thatcher Lecture
why is he doing this anyway?? doesn't he earn enough money as a back-bencher??

Why is she doing this anyway?? doesn't she earn enough money as an a ex PM??
Take one ousted political leader with time on her hands. Add in a lucrative, all-expenses paid speaking opportunity in a glamorous city abroad. The recipe for an entertaining, insightful, maybe even revelatory conference presentation, right?
Wrong.
Yesterdayโs address by the former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, plumbed new depths of irrelevance and poor value for organisers and audience alike. A keynote became a low note, prompting one leading travel retailer to tell me: โI was ashamed to be an Australian.โ
I wonder how much she was paid for what often amounted to little more than a justification for her former governmentโs policies.
Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard is set to reap close to $700,000 next year from a packed schedule of book launches and speeches, plus the generous parliamentary entitlements for ex-PMs.
Oh gosh they all do it !!
"Catholic priests slam Tony Abbott's anti-immigration Margaret Thatcher Lecture"
Would they really be considered very "scary"?

so in your eyes, JG joining the speakers circuit after her retirement from politics justifies his double dipping.???
Isn't he still funded by tax payers to represent the people in the electorate of Warringah?? or did he get the boot from parliament entirely??

One of Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" and Forbes' "World's Most Powerful Women" former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard lights up the lecture circuit with her powerful presentations.
In October 2013, Ms Gillard was appointed a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, working with the Center for Universal Education ( after the Fed. election and her retirement from politics)
AFAIK he still has a job that he's supposed to be doing here
