As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Julie Bishop had eyes in coup meeting plotting against Tony Abbott
Julie Bishop’s chief of staff, Murray Hansen, attended a crucial meeting of Liberal MPs plotting against Tony Abbott in September where it was decided Malcolm Turnbull would mount a challenge.
The revelation the Liberal deputy leader had eyes in the room at the crucial meeting of Turnbull supporters on the eve of the challenge is contained in a new book, Battleground, by political author and academic Wayne Errington and The Australian’s contributing editor, Peter van Onselen.
It threatens to reopen recriminations within the Liberal Party over the dumping of a first-term prime minister.
Ms Bishop and Mr Hansen did not respond yesterday to requests for comment, but Abbott supporters last night seized on the revelation, telling The Australian it was evidence Ms Bishop was more heavily involved in the leadership challenge than previously indicated.
though Julie Bishop pleaded innocence in the dumping of abbott , most were aware that she was a major player in the back stabbing

Federal Cities Minister Jamie Briggs has confessed he sustained a knee injury on the night of the Liberal leadership spill after he tried to tackle Tony Abbott at a party.
Mr Briggs had originally claimed he suffered the injury while running.
why didn't he just say so in the first place instead of concocting a false story??

Other Liberal MPs said a disgruntled Mr Abbott and his allies was clearly "sandbagging" the former prime minister's legacy by talking about national security issues and chipping Mr Turnbull, with one declaring he should "get over it, he's not PM anymore" and another stating Mr Abbott had to accept that he had his chance as prime minister and had "blown it".

It's good to see Dutton removed from the committee. If only he could be removed from politics altogether...

FEDERAL police are searching the Queensland home of former political staffer James Ashby.
Mr Ashby has been in the media spotlight since making sexual harassment allegations in 2012 against his then-boss and former Speaker Peter Slipper, which were thrown out of court.
Channel 7 News has captured footage of police searching the Beerwah home of Mr Ashby in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
The AFP are reportedly searching for anything relating to the Liberal National Party, Mr Slipper, Mal Brough, Christopher Pyne and Wyatt Roy.
wow!
why has it taken the AFP so long to do this . I think it highly unlikely that they would find anything this long after the event
Ashby was a farm hand on Wyatt Roy's parents farm. Somehow he was catapulted from there to become Slipper's assistant. wonder what his qualifications were?? On second thought, I hate to think

But yeah I don't get why a million people are happy with Turnbull when in reality the policies have not change one bit.
Yes we all wonder that? it was a concerted hate campaign from day one with Abbott and it's still going.
I am just relieved that when our prime minister speaks on international stage nobody cringes. Abbott was an embarrassment and still is, except nobody listens to him.
