Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Why doesn't this surprise me coming from Dutton.
"Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton says he opted not to tell the Prime Minister about an alleged rape at Parliament House so he wouldn’t compromise a potential police investigation"

No Peter, you threw her out with the trash because there was a Federal election looming, and I don't believe Morrison wasn't informed back then.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Independent think tank Per Capita spent months trawling through government papers, media releases, Hansard transcripts, and lodged countless Freedom of Information requests. We're stunned, but not surprised, by what they found:

BUSHFIRE SURVIVORS
ARE BEING LEFT BEHIND
New investigation reveals how Morrison's "recovery" is failing:

Less than half the promised funds have been spent:
The Federal Government announced $2.74 billion bushfire funds in the last 12 months, but has only delivered 48% of that.

Promised funds are not reaching families in need fast enough:
At the current rate, it will take until December 2022 to distribute the entire fund – three years after the fires.

Some funds seem to be delivered based on political opportunity over community need:
So far 86% of certain funds have gone to the Liberal-governed states of NSW and SA, with only 14% going to Labor-governed VIC and QLD.

There is little to no transparency over the funds:
Considering the national importance of these funds, government transparency about them is severely lacking. There are even multiple accounts of Federal Government ministers misrepresenting the scale of the funding and the speed of its delivery.

Morrison's "$2bn" is only notional:
The Government's own senior civil servants have confirmed the $2bn in the National Bushfire Recovery Agency is notional only, a theoretical description of a number of different pots of money, some new and some redirected from other government programs.
