As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Did you happen t see any of her "talk" Polks? I have never seen her speaking before. I don't believe sexism had anything to do with her chief of staff role

No, just heard her on the radio, but found a bit here.

I'm glad she has 'no plan to run for politics"

I have appreciated Grattan's political acumen and comments over many years, but have come to the opinion that I must have listened to a different recording, because in the above one she says of Credlin's comments that "if there was some element of sexism in the criticism it was not a major problem", mainly that Credlin "exercised her power ruthlessly with no discretion or subtlety"
Oh please, more strong capable woman that can easily hold their own in what is a testosterone dominated Canberra jungle, rather than a lettuce leaf Poor Me with a foul mouthed imported (male) communications/media director.
Last word, and applicable here I would assert, from Credlin:
"I refuse to have my reputation defined by the haters because it says more about them than me."

I hope they go for it
WDQ: "No explanation which might justify why you hope that ?"
And now: "I'm glad she has 'no plan to run for politics"
No explanation which might justify why you are glad?

ABC
The Australian dollar has spent most of the day south of the US 70 cent mark and investors are wondering how low it will fall, with the Chinese economy slowing down and the US Federal Reserve still toying with raising rates.
The ANZ has been reading the runes like everyone else and is now predicting the Reserve Bank of Australia will cut the cash rate to 1.5 per cent next year.
The bank said global growth was slower than it thought, and there would likely be a sharply lower dollar in 2016 with two rate cuts expected in February and May.
The XAO, which almost made it to 6000 in April, is now around 5000:
(when) will the US Fed Res raise interest rates, because that will immediately affect us. How will those depending on returns from fixed/variable deposits survive if/when the RBA drop our rates?
Will Harvey Shorten, wherever he is, stop genuflecting to the xenophobic and misleading union line, contrary to 3 past ACTU leaders a couple of ALP premiers and other ALP luminaries, and sign off on the China Free Trade Agreement.?
Canning is over, Shorten can now stop spouting militant union nonsense and listen to some past ACTU "giants".
PS
Why did the the unions spend so much time, money, and effort to "win" Canning?. It actually exacerbated the situation for them, in that Turnbull challenged, is now leader, and will so be at the next Federal election, a situation which I am sure they would have desperately wished to eschew.
Not very productive in my opinion, but they are union stock, and have money to burn (well their member's) even after paying a stream of fines.
Does the "Govt" still stink, or is there now some dilution of the malodorous ether the gang have been at pains to circulate here in the past via numerous C&Ps ?

Australia's freshly minted Resources and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg has signalled the government's intention to use taxpayer funds to help the coal mining industry establish new projects.

Tosh, if Australia didn't have the abundance of cheap fuel we would all still be sitting in the dark lighting fires to cook, just like many African countries have to do today in the 21st century.
Australia has thrived and grown by using our resources. ((((Shakes head)))).
