As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

That being so you are in the minority.
Perhaps you might appreciate that the deterrent effect of the Pacific Solution has halted the boat arrivals here, and drownings would appear to have ended also.
What exactly would your suggestion be apropos the remaining asylum seekers and the refugees who are in the offshore detention/holding areas, bearing in mind that any indication of a pathway to the Australian mainland would most probably initiate a return to the past convoy conditions?

Medibank a while ago announced its result for the year ending 30 June 2015. The firm beat most analysts’ forecasts, posting net profit that jumped to $285 million — more than double the figure from the previous year.
The current price is $2.52, and the recent dividend was 5.3 cents fully franked, certainly not a world shattering return, but a CG of 52cents per share on the IPO of $2.00 since Dec 2014 is certainly not "pfttt" material.
Indeed a shot-in-the-arm ! (if one sells).

Monman. What is the relevance of your last post? It seems a bit non sequitur.
Or is it that you are about to breathlessly inform us that you have shares in this company and are soliciting kudos for your perspicacity?
I think I told you before that to disuss the state of ones' personal finances with parties who cannot demonstrate a need to know, is considered as just plain low-class bad taste.

Hardly, kudos are distributed mainly according to affiliations, not memory lapses, but you appear to have overlooked (forgotten?) a previous post of mine in August containing: "I sold all my MPL $2.00 IPO shares.", also past chats with D9275 apropos Medibank.
However as you ask for some relevance, I would direct you to the thread title, and the fact that the sale of Medibank was a major government initiative of this malodorous "Govt" I have also dug up some past "diary" entries from this thread in order to possibly jog a memory cell or two and appease your "relevance" concern:

"Unlike the sale of NIB and other mutuals like MBF, Medibank Private is a government-owned business, which is why customers will not benefit from the $4 billion sale."
"The sale of Medibank will put the business in the top 100 listed companies on the Australian Securities Exchange, with an expected government windfall of around $4 billion"

"there goes medibank"

"I won't be taking up any IPO from them and we also recently made the decison to leave Medibank private after many years"
non sequitur?. hardly, "sequitur" is applicable if you stir your memory, or possibly "quod erat demonstrandum" QED !
PS
Is it permitted " to discuss the state of "finances" that one does NOT personally have ?

150 million dollars to go to the Philippines as a bribe to take refugees from Nauru/Manus.
That would be enough for 11 of them.

Yes, I must have overlooked it. Truth be told, I don't read many of your posts, Monman because I find your posting format difficult to read, and on the rare occassions I persist, I find the contents not worth my effort.

Agree. Like a dog's breakfast. Life's too short.

These "refugees" are sitting down hoping to get to Australia, that is what they want and they'll go to any lengths to get it.
This is playing into the hands "refugee" advocates and they'll ramp up their rhetoric and trumped up stories to get them here.
I hope they ship them all off to the Philippines from Manus, Christmas Island and Nauru and be done with them. They are costing millions to feed and shelter. They are not refugees they are country shoppers who paid people traffickers to get here.
Now I know this sounds harsh but if the Govt relents even an inch we'll see an armada of boats start all over again. The majority of Australians do not want that, they had enough with the lies Labor told them every day about push factors but in reality it was all pull factors that brought them here.
We are seeing now, the terrible middle eastern crime and gun crime, we are seeing murder on our streets and cafes.

yes, it is harsh-
at least Labor were open and honest and not trying to hide under a veil of secrecy
