I was still half asleep this morning when my radio came on, and I am sure they said that the new LNP plan to stop the boats is to finance buy back scheme in Indonesia to buy their old decrepit boats from the poor fishermen. I could not believe they could be so stupid, but apparently they could:

I received a letter today from the hospital stating that as from October all cataract surgery has been cancelled and moved to a Hospital a long distance away. I am not allowed to drive because of the surgery and my OH cannot drive the distance. I have no idean how we are supposed to get there and back.
eA little bit of concern for local issues would be a good thinig from both parties.
Hi Jean,
I don't know what State/Territory you are in ...each has their own funding issues.
I'm in Vic ..I won't say more on the situation of state funding here.
I have had time where I have been unable to drive (and my OH unable to take time off work) and needed to get to major hospitals.I have used Red Cross patient transport and given them a donation .it isn't required .Perhaps doctors or your local council may know what is available in your area.

20 mil is the amount allocated for the indos. to do a dob in a local dealer scheme
actual amount for the stop and shop boats scheme is $420 mil.
loathsome, under'anded abbott won't disclose the real cost to buyback the leaky boats
abc website: "Mr Abbott says roughly $20 million has been allocated to the "village watch" activities, but would not give a figure for what the Government would pay for boats or for information that led to arrests."

.....any plan to spend bazillions on providing top notch boats - supposedly to catch boat people being smuggled to Oz, will provide a WONDERFUL way and overseas community service for 'whoever' and their village mates to illegally fish in our bloody waters!!
..............those idiot Canberra bods really don't give any of these half-baked ideas a 2nd think thru, do they?!

I have not too much problem with the idea of cash for clankers; it would prompt people to get rid of old poluting (and maybe not all that roadworthy) vehicles and would have helped our car manufacturers. It would have been paid to Australians and help Australia.

$20 mill allocated?? that's a drop in the ocean compared to the billions Rudd/Gillarg/Rudd have wasted. He gave that much to have more live music in pubs.
so why do it ? these guys can and will waste far more money than rudd and gillard ever have, howard was the most wasteful PM we've had, his spawnling tone made of lesser stuff than him being no recommendation. he is a self confessed economic illiterate with the incompetent hockey as his treasurer .. the git who hasn't produced costings for 2 elections.
