Yes, I've frozen them successfully. Actually, have one there now. I buy them on special @ about $5 kilo. Keeps me going for a few meals and "sammidges".

That is not so silly....there could have been 2 reasons for a petticoat in the fridge.
If it was a nylon one there used to be an old wives tale that it would remove static electricity....no idea if it worked as I never tried it.
The other reason was to make it cold in the hot weather....again I never tried it but a friend of mine swore by it on a hot day.
