Flannie, did you answer this question, is that a little TD in the wood pile? I think Cq asked on the Wood thread.

There is a cool feature on this board. When you use the tree icon to download pics, it gives you a choice of size. You can pick Full size(the default feature) S, M, or Large.

Those banksia carvings, turnings, are so gorgeous. Who would have thought something so beautiful could emerge from such as ugly pod?

It's funny how we all see things differently - I think the banksia pod is stunning, honestly - I think I picked it up on one of my dog walks around Elwood (Vic) but wish I knew where as I'd like more to display them in some way. I just don't recall any banksia trees around here in the suburbs but there must be one or two as I have picked up another one too. I'll look very carefully on my next walk.
I'd kill for some of those carvings, they are so beautiful, not sure where I could get them but will do some scouting around.

love the 200 year old box. am i right in guessing it's british?
...and i'm glad you're back
thanks agora
that box belonged to my father's family, they were Austrian but their antecedents were French so I don't know the background of it. It's lined with blue satin in a kind of diamond pattern and is still in reasonably good shape. My dad's family had their crest on everything, linen, silver and so on, so I'm not sure if the metal embellishments on that box are part of the crest.

Perhaps cockatoos picked and carried those pods.
