The wood theme is making me look up. I saw a kite stuck very high in a pepper tree yesterday, so I went back today to take a photo.
If I get back to Australia, I'll look for those pods.

I just don't recall any banksia trees around here in the suburbs but there must be one or two as I have picked up another one too. I'll look very carefully on my next walk.
I'd kill for some of those carvings, they are so beautiful, not sure where I could get them but will do some scouting around.
I think the Banksia cones/seed pods are beautiful just as they are as well. I have been fascinated with Banksia's since reading Snugglepot and Cuddlepie as a child. One of my photo's in the comp thread is a Banksia, i think its 118 or close to that number.

I just went back to have another look at your photo boris and what a marvellous tree it is. I'm pretty sure there aren't any like that around Elwood so possibly a bird did drop them. Though come to think of it we have a large park nearby so maybe there's one there. It just shows how much we walk around with our eyes half closed and this photo thread has really made me look at things in a different way.

bright.ton, if you walk around the scrub along Elwood beach, you should find some Banksia trees. Some of them are not very tall. More like bushes.

There's lots of different ones, from ground covers, shrubs and tallish tree's. The one in the photo comp is up around Angourie, it's an old Banksia Integrifolia, better known as coastal Banksia.

Really? There you go, I often walk along the beach, but will keep my eyes wide open in future. Thanks. If I can get some more pods I'll be happy.
