I finally got one two weeks ago and I can't stand it.  I am going back to doing the washing up by hand.

I would love a dishwasher that can hold more than four bowls and two cups (the place I rent has a benchtop dishwasher) and it leaks!

Firstly the normal cycles takes 2 hours  😮  I thought that was a mistake, but apparently not.

the quick cycle 35 minutes does not wash good enough. Quicker for me just to do it in the sink.

I had a new kitchen put in 2 weeks ago and the dishwasher was a part of it, on OH's insistence.

I will post pics of my new kitchen soon - I went from a lime green 70's horror, to - well you will see for yourself when I post.

I thought it was about time, for me it was always a toss up between a trip to Europe or a new kitchen and the trip always won.   After 5 trips to Europe, the kitchen finally won   :^O

I really like the green kitchen on Packed to the rafters. I didn't think I would use my dishwasher much. I told hubby I didn't need one as I wouldn't use it. The one that came with the house was broken. Anyway we put a new one in a few months back and I think I've washed by hand maybe three times since then.  It takes two hours, doesn't dry overly well and I regret getting the model with the cutlery tray in the top but it's still better than washing frypans by hand

I love having a dishwasher. The one I have now, in a place I have recently moved to, washes the best of any I have had. The glass is sparkling, the pots are shiny. It is a fairly basic model, nothing fancy.

I don't know how long the cycle is.  turn it on after 11pm to make use of the off peak electricity. Or turn it on in the morning on way to work, so not here when it finishes.

I have the cheapest model...

I run it on an economy cycle but always make sure the dishes are scraped clean.

Make sure you have rinse aid in your machine and I found the aldi dishwasher tablets the best... I don't put them in the holder in the door, I drop them in the bottom of the machine. As I use the economy cycle it is the best way to make sure all the tablet is dissolved.

I bought a bench top one about 2 months ago.   haven't had it installed yet so don't know how well it works bought it from Deals D.    cheap.  Hope it's not a case of "you get what you pay for"?  😞  I've always had a dishwasher. until this house.

I love dishwashers!

It saves water, because I only need to put the dishwasher on every second day.

I love it that you can have guests over for dinner and the kitchen looks feral afterwards but it takes 5 mins to load the washer, switch it on, and you can go to bed.

It does the washing up for you. 😄

Unpacking takes a few minutes.

Pea green with envy here.  I would LOVE to have one.  Whoever doesn't want theirs

please throw it my way.

Mine was a cheap one Gill.. the cheapest I could get... just make sure you don't overload it and use a rinse aid... best to keep plates clean too before you put them in. I just do a sink of a little bit of water and rinse them off......

I have seen the one you bought.. I would go one like that next time as there are only two of us here.. they are easier to fit into rental properties...

They are not like the expensive ones so you just use it accordingly .

I don't get the people who more or less wash their dishes before they put them in the dishwasher. Of course I scrape off food scraps etc but I don't do the full rinse cycle some do.  Mine go in at about the same condition as I would wash them in a sink.
